Korfe: Korean Bakery Cafe Opens New Outlet At AMK Djitsun Mall, Directly Linked To A Korean Mart

Korfe Korean Bakery Cafe in AMK Djitsun Mall

Not too long ago, Korfe was attracting long queues over at their Bishan outlet because of their Korean bakes such as the Garlic Cream Cheese Bun and Injeolmi Red Bean Buns. They have recently launched a new outlet in AMK Djitsun Mall (how to pronounce Djitsun ah?) that’s linked directly to a Korean mart as well!

Seems like we’re getting more Korea-related stuff in AMK, like 82 Bunsik that opened nearby in Jubilee Square.

Korean Bakery Cafe in Ang Mo Kio

You can find the popular Korean bakes here at the new Korfe outlet, as well as an expanded menu with simple Korean fares like Ramyeon and Kimbap.

We must admit, the interior of the new outlet did require some getting used to, as it felt somewhat all over the place.

New Korean Mart in Ang Mo Kio

Korfe is also linked to a new Korean mart called Amu Mar-te, which sells instant Korean food from Bibigo, fresh fruits imported from Jeju such as Hallabong, Mandarin Oranges and Kiwi.

You can also spot frozen ready-to-eat meals such as Korean Seafood Pancakes, Soybean Stew and Salted Egg Dumplings from Huluruk Myeon House here.

Korfe AMK serves a wide variety of buns such as the Matcha Cookie Bun ($2.80), Taro Bun ($2.80) and Pumpkin Bun ($2.80). Yes, their bakes are no longer $2.

The drink menu consists of various version of the Dalgona Coffee ($4.20 ~ $5.20), some fresh juices and Frappes.

For more savoury options, they also have Ramyeon ($8.80 ~ $10.80), Rice Cakes ($8.80 ~ $10.80), Kimbap ($8.80 ~ $10.80) and Chicken Wings ($7.80 ~ $8.80).

Here are some of the items we tried:

Korean Garlic Cream Cheese Bun

One of the most popular Korean buns in Singapore has got to be the Korean Garlic Cream Cheese Bread ($2.80). Korfe’s version had a generous cream cheese filling, bursting with garlic flavour. There was also a slight tanginess from the cream cheese which we liked.

Injeolmi Red Bean Bun

The Injeolmi Red Bean Bun ($2.80) had a nice creamy injeolmi cream filling that wasn’t too sweet. In fact, the red bean was the sweetest thing in the bun! There was also a slice of mochi in the bun but was slightly hard in texture. Wished it was softer and chewier.

Chicken Bulgogi Bun

We intended to get the Kimchi Chicken Bulgogi Bun ($2.80) but ended up with this because we didn’t realize there were 2 variants to their Chicken Bulgogi Bun ($2.80). Make sure to emphasize the word kimchi when ordering!

However, the Chicken Bulgogi Bun was delightful as well. The bun was smooth, soft and fluffy, reminiscent of the Filet-O-Fish buns over at McDonald’s. The bulgogi filling could have been more intense to bring out the bulgogi flavour, but overall a really nice bun.

Taro Frappe and Coconut Dalgona Coffee

Drink-wise, we really enjoyed the Iced Coconut Dalgona Coffee ($5.20). It reminded us of the coconut coffees you get in Vietnam. The dalgona cream itself had a nice coffee bitter aftertaste, which went well with the sweetness of the coconut.

The Taro Frappe ($5.80) on the other hand felt a little artificial and milky but offered much respite on a hot, sunny day.

Savoury Menu Items At Korfe

Cheese Spam Ramyeon

At a rather high price of $10.80, we were quite disappointed with the ramyeon. It was served in a disposable bowl, with a few slices of spam, an egg and some green onion.

Okay lah, there was some cheese pull, so not that bad. But for $10.80, we would say buy more of their buns instead.

Original Kimbap

The kimbap ($8.80) was okay, but could do better in terms of presentation. Taste-wise, it’s actually not bad, but again, we would opt for the buns instead.

How To Get To Korfe Ang Mo Kio

While the Korean bakery cafe is situated within Djitsun Mall, you can’t access it via the main entrance. Korfe is located towards the side of the mall (walk in the direction towards Courts).

Ang Mo Kio peeps can now easily get the highly famed Korean buns over at Korfe @ Djitsun Mall, along with a new Korean mart! While the hot meals didn’t really hit the mark for us, their Korean buns were really enjoyable.
