Koreans enjoy two things: bagels and aesthetically pleasing places, and Knickerbocker Bagel Seongsu is the newest spot that has both! Their Seongsu outlet has made waves on Korean social media for its unique interior, serving up New York-style bagels and coffee.
Hot Pink & Conveyor Belts
The outlet spans two floors with the main attraction on the first floor: A hanging conveyer system that snakes down to the front counter.
It’s decorated with cute hot pink-coloured items like teddy bears and jelly bags displaying their merchandise. We liked how they utilise the system for transporting orders!
The seating space is on the second floor with indoor and outdoor areas. It has a mid-century modern aesthetic and you can watch the bagels being prepared.
Knickerbocker Bagel Seongsu Menu
This concept is an official franchise from New York, though their menu is tweaked with some Korean specials!
The selection span plain bagels, house mixed cream cheese and bagel sandwiches. Flavours include Everything (에브리띵, 4,500 won), Cinnamon (4,500 won) and Soboro (4,500won).
The cream cheese options are also unique, like Honey Basil (허니바질크림치즈, 3,800won) and Fig (무화과, 3,800won).
For something heartier, the bagel sandwiches include The Luxury Lox (록셔리(연어)샌드위치, 13,300 won) or Bacon Siracha (13,300 won). They even have sweet options like Red Bean Paste & Butter (앙 소보루, 9,500won) and NY Big Apple (14,800won).
Pink Bagel with Citron Cream Cheese
We tried the combination of their Pink Bagel (핑키베이글, 4,500won) and Citron Cream Cheese (유자크림치즈, 3,800won).
We enjoyed it! The bagel was lightly toasted, providing a crunch that contrasted the chewy and soft interior. It was a no-frills bagel – basic but satisfying. The cream cheese was a good complement, with a tang of yuzu, but not memorable. Maybe other flavours like Green Onion (파, 3,800won) or Matcha (말차크림치즈, 4,000won) might be more striking!
Bacon, Egg & Cheese (BEC) with Garlic Siracha
The BEC with Garlic Siracha (13,300won) was hefty, stacked with scrambled eggs and a generous serving of cheese.
Despite the striking visuals, we found it underwhelming. The sandwich seemed underseasoned, and the garlic siracha didn’t provide a strong flavour. We liked the combination of eggs and bacon though!
French Bagel
Our favourite was the French Bagel (프렌치 베이글, 10,800won). If you’re a fan of French Toast, you’ll love this!
The bagel retained a pleasant chew and a pudding-like centre with an enjoyable cinnamon taste. We liked the thin, crispy sugary coating which added just the right amount of sweetness. It comes with a side of maple syrup but we don’t think it’s needed!
Bagels In Seongsu
Knickerbocker Bagel offers a comfortable environment and a simple menu, making it a good rest spot while you explore Seongsu. The area is home to many cafes and Korean apparel brands perfect for an afternoon of casual shopping!
