Kakkow by Derek Cheong: Artisanal Chocolate BonBons Made By MasterChef Singapore S2 Winner

A fun homophone (play on words that sound the same) on the pronunciation of ‘cacao’, Kakkow is a new player in the local artisanal chocolate scene. Founded by MasterChef Singapore Season 2 winner Derek Cheong, Kakkow presents The Kakkow Box ($24), a lineup of 6 handcrafted chocolate bonbons with unique flavours.

Exciting Flavour Pairings Including Miso, Truffle and Burnt Vanilla

Chef Derek brings inspiration from the ‘element of surprise within each piece’ and focuses on showcasing surprising but fitting flavour pairings in each of his chocolate creations. The flavours are seasonal, meaning we can look forward to even more exciting flavours in the future!

There’s a mix of sweet and savoury flavour profiles in the upcoming box, including Corn and Truffle, made using cream infused with fresh Hokkaido corn and grated Black Winter truffles topped with popcorn and Cep and Walnut, made with Cep, a type of wild mushroom that has a strong earthy and woody flavour, complimented with dark chocolate ganache and a roasted walnut caramel. There’s also the Miso and Genmaicha, pairing miso caramel made with Saikyo miso from Kyoto and a genmaicha (Japanese green tea with roasted rice) ganache, a balanced infusion of classic Japanese flavours.

If you prefer sweet, there’s Burnt Vanilla and Cookies, Kakkow’s take on the classic Cookies and Cream, with ganache infused with burnt vanilla pods and crunchy cookie bits; Pistachio and Lime, as well as Yuzu and Calamansi, both flavours making a comeback from Kakkow’s previous inaugural box as they were most well-recieved amongst customers.

Kakkow is also open to corporate gifts and bulk orders, events and pop-ups! You even get to customise flavours and designs of the bonbons to fit the theme of any occasion. So if you’re looking for a special way to commemorate your celebrations, Kakkow is one place you can consider.
