Dim Sum Combination

Jiang Nan Chun- Dim Sum Combination

Our meal began with a trio of dim sum – Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumpling and Crispy Silky Turnip Pastry.

Our favourite of the three was the Steamed Shrimp Dumpling. The dumpling skin was thin but not starchy and packed with, meaty shrimp that had a satisfyingly firm chew!

While we enjoyed the sweetness from the Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumpling, we felt the baby abalone had a slight fishy taste.

The Crispy Silky Turnip Pastry was crispy, buttery, and flaky with a flavourful turnip filling similar to Kueh Pie Tee!

Barbecued Combination

The Barbecued Combination showcased a trio of expertly prepared meats. The Roasted Cherry Valley Duck, their signature offering, was perfectly executed, with a crisp skin and just the right amount of fat. The accompanying sweet sauce complemented the succulent meat well.

Their Crispy Pork Belly and Honey Glazed Iberico Pork Pluma were equally good. Our pick would be the pork belly, with the ideal ratio of crispy skin, tender meat, and clean flavorful fat!

Traditional Cantonese Soup

The Traditional Cantonese Soup we had was served with scallop, golden enoki mushrooms and chicken; giving a rich orange colour. While enjoyable, we felt it lacked some body and wish it had a stronger, flavour profile. It was still warm and comforting with a sweetness from the chicken!

Sweet and Sour Pork

The Sweet and Sour Pork was one of our favourites among the dishes we tried. The sauce was sweet but zesty and almost refreshing, which really whet our appetites! The batter was light and crispy but didn’t distract from the generous chunks of fatty meat.  A special touch we enjoyed was the garnish of thinly sliced candied ginger, which added a fragrant touch that finished the dish.

Wheat Vermicelli, Scallop, Spinach, Thick Broth

The final savoury item was the Wheat Vermicelli in Thick Broth. Everything was well-executed, from the firm noodles to the rich, savoury broth base. We liked the addition of the scallop which was sweet and succulent! Each bite felt complete and nourishing, a nice close to the meal.

Chilled Mango, Sago Cream, Pomelo

The Chilled Mango, Sago Cream, and Pomelo provided the perfect sweet ending. This was refreshing and creamy with the addition of pomelo and mango chunks that added a touch of bitterness and sourness that balanced the sweetness of the dessert.
