I know of affordable omakase options, but I’ve never heard of one that gets cheaper with each order. Haku Sushi is offering a rolling sushi omakase that begins at only $19 for 5 pieces of sushi!
How Haku Sushi Rolling Omakase Works
Haku Sushi is a premium Japanese omakase restaurant in Great World. Their Rolling Sushi Omakase promotion offers a unique, attractive cumulative discount system.
It’s only available during lunch from 11.30am to 3pm.
Every “round” – or order – is 5 pieces of sushi. The first round is only $19, which is incredible given the quality of the ingredients!
The second round has a reduced price of $18, then the third and subsequent rounds are capped at $17.
There is no limit to the number of rounds you can order, as long as you can eat and pay!
What We Tried

The meal is hosted in a comfortable, clean omakase setting. I appreciated the attentive service of the staff who took care of us throughout!
Despite the affordable pricing, the menu features fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some options you can look forward to include madai (sea bream) and and kinmedai (golden-eyed snapper).
The first three rounds of sushi are a set menu. It started with simple but familiar fish, including a large Ebi, Ikura gunkan and Kamapachi with yuzu.
The star was the thick-cut Tekka Maki with fresh lean tuna. They don’t cheap out on the quality of fish or the rice either, which was properly seasoned with vinegar.
I also appreciated how each sushi has less rice than usual to give more stomach space!
The second round introduced interesting options like Hako Sushi, a boxy stack of unagi and sweet prawn with a cube of cream cheese.
Despite the novel idea, I found it a bit plain, especially when compared to the alluring, fatty Chutoro nigiri.
The Kohada with kelp was also interesting. It has a flavour similar to mackerel but without the fishiness.
The quality only increased at the third round. I was impressed that they kept up the premium offerings and it only got more indulgent as it continued!
Sitting in the centre was a negioro and uni riceball, flanked by a loaded Akami-Chutoro sushi and thick-cut scallop nigiri.
Every bite of fish was buttery and melt-in-your-mouth tender, making it incredibly satisfying.
The most unique bite was Fugu – a.k.a pufferfish! It was my first time trying it, and honestly, it didn’t have a striking taste. The texture was firm and a little chewy.
I did find it cool that you can get such a delicacy in an omakase at this price point!
Unfortunately, I tapped out at round 3, but the chef shared that subsequent rounds of sushi are like a ‘blind box’ and depend on the catch of the day.
Bonus: If you’re feeling bougie, you can get additional premium items at only $9.90 each (50% off)!
Choose from three options: the overflowing Ikura Kobore, Special Negitoro handroll or stacked Uni Sushi.
For value, I’d recommend the Ikura Kobore, but you can technically enjoy all three.
The meal ends officially with warm miso soup and Atsuyaki Tamago to warm the stomach. I walked away full and satisfied, having eaten 15 pieces of sushi for just about $60!
Is Haku Sushi Omakase Worth It?
Yes, the Haku Sushi rolling omakase is worth it. While it’s not the most life-changing or premium omakase, it is an incredibly value-for-money, affordable omakase option in the Orchard and Great World area. The quality of fish, generous selection and good service make this an attractive meal option!
