Guerilla Coffee Kallang Riverside: Cafe Surrounded by Greenery Perfect for Slow-Paced Days

Guerilla Coffee opened in 2021 during the peak of the pandemic at Suntec. We remember it to be a space that was serious with their coffee, having state-of-the-art technology and coffee machines.

Fast-forward a few years: The homegrown cafe now has three branches, with its latest outlet in Kallang Riverside.

It is located on the first floor of a Condominium, right beside the Kallang Riverside Park. It’s not the most accessible location, as it is quite a walk from the nearest MRT station/bus stop.

However, due to this, the cafe is surrounded by greenery, making it feel quieter and peaceful.

The 80-seater cafe offers regular coffee programmes that enrich the experience. It also aims to serve as a hub for interest groups to gather and connect. The cafe also has an on-site roastery, where customers can choose from a selection of beans to be roasted on the spot in just 15 minutes.

Menu at Guerilla Coffee Kallang

Unlike its other outlets, Guerilla Coffee Kallang has an all-day menu perfect for brunch and dishes infused with coffee.

The Guerilla Seasonal Butterboard (from $18) features house-churned butter and seasonally rotated ingredients. It also comes with slices of bread and a side of coffee salt, which goes surprisingly well with the butter and bread.

If you want something light, go for the Summer Chicken Salad ($18). Like its name suggests, it’s perfect for a hot summer day thanks to its refreshing combination of ingredients such as pomelo and orange slices. We really enjoyed this!

They also had a Homemade Brioche Bun ($5), which left quite an impression. It was moreish, with a crisp exterior that concealed a fluffy, airy interior. Turns out, the bread is made using a starter fed five different kinds of ginger.

You can also find the classic combination of Fried Chicken and Waffles here. Their Buttermilk Chicken Waffles ($20) feature crisp fried chicken covered in cornflakes, served alongside espresso maple syrup.

We thought the bitterness of the coffee complemented the sweetness of the maple syrup, making it a little more interesting than the usual ones.

For desserts, we highly recommend the Guerilla G2 Tiramisu Deck ($16), which is made using their own Guerilla No.2 espresso and Kahlua. It’s packed with flavour without being too cloying. Best of all, it comes with tableside service, so feel free to ask for more cocoa powder.

Banana bread lovers would enjoy their Walnut Dark Choc Banana Bread with Chantilly Cream ($12), which comes with chunks of 75% Tanzanian chocolate and walnuts.

Coffee Options At Guerilla Coffee

Here at the Kallang Riverside outlet, they offer a ‘Slow Bar Menu’ featuring a selection of filter coffees, ranging from standard single origins roasted on-site to highly prized coffee lots.

For those who aren’t too enthused about filter coffee, not to worry as the usual espresso-based menu items are available as well. Some of them come with a twist, such as the Singapore Latte ($6.70), which features a blend of condensed milk, salt and pepper.

There’s also a Straits Latte ($7.20), a nutty cuppa enhanced by Gula Melaka and desiccated coconut.

We opted for the Tiramisu Latte ($8.80), which is served with a ladyfinger biscuit topping, which wasn’t too sweet for our liking.
