Hotpot-BBQ Buffet Starting At Only $19.99++ At Chinatown MRT: Good Combo Hotpot & BBQ Buffet

Chinatown is chock-full of pocket-friendly eats. One of these options is Good Combo Hotpot & BBQ Buffet, literally located right outside Chinatown MRT! The popular yet unassuming eatery features a dual hotpot-BBQ buffet that’s sure to be a bang for your buck.

Unique Hotpot Set-up

The restaurant is located less than 5 steps away from Exit A – you will see it on your right when you step off the escalator. Despite its narrow-looking exterior, the space is deep and has many tables, including a second floor.

Good Combo Hotpot & BBQ Buffet features a table setup that combines both cooking methods in a convenient and solo-friendly seating arrangement. It even has its own shelves to hold your food and a vent to suck up the smoke from the grill.

They also have an extensive sauce station and even free ice cream you can enjoy after your meal!

Good Combo Hotpot & BBQ Buffet Menu

The menu is split into three segments with different ‘tiers’ of ingredients: Superb, Signature and Supreme; which is dependent on the price.

It starts at $19.99++ per pax for the Superb menu, $27.99++ for Superb and Signature, and $42.99++ for all three tiers.

There’s a diverse selection of meat, seafood, tofu and vegetables to choose from. Some notable ones include Black Pepper Beef (Signature), Snow Beef (Supreme), Oyster (Signature) and Dory Fish (Superb). You can also enjoy specials like the BBQ Cheese and Clam Vermicelli (Supreme) and even Xiao Long Bao (Superb) and Fried Mantou (Signature)!

For the hotpot, broth options range from $1.80 to $4.80, and you can even opt for Double Broth ($4)! The options include the signature Nourishing Chicken Fishmaw, Chongqing Butter Mala and Tomato.

The beverage menu is equally extensive, with drinks like Water Chestnut ($3.80), Pomelo Green Tea ($3) and alcohol like Tsin Tao Beer($8).

We got to try the $27.99++ selection with Superb and Signature options. Each table with get a unique QR code to order depending on the price.

Hotpot

We tried the Nourishing Chicken Fishmaw ($4.80) and Pork Bone ($3) broth bases, and were surprised by the flavours!

The Chicken Fishmaw was milky and full of collagen, with pieces of fish maw. There wasn’t a strong MSG taste and we could taste the sweetness from the chicken. The Pork Bone was simple but robust, with a clean flavour.

We tried Beef Brisket (Superb) and Pork Belly (Signature) for our meats; which were of good quality and had no gameiness. The serving sizes for each dish are relatively small, which we think helps with pacing your meal!

A highlight was actually the Oysters (Signature). They had no fishiness and absorbed the soup well, providing a plump and juicy bite, despite their small size.

You have to finish with instant noodles to soak up the soup after cooking your ingredients!

BBQ

The BBQ menu selection we got included BBQ Pork Collar (Superb) and Tiger Prawn (Signature). The prawns were a highlight for us – they were fresh and of a good size with a nice snappy texture.

Another item worth trying is the Black Pepper Lamb Chop (Signature). We recommend you grill it till slightly crispy and golden on the edges for the best experience! The meat did not have any gaminess and was complimented by the kick from the black pepper that cut through the fattiness.

The hotpot and BBQ meats can easily be enjoyed both ways and does not need to be limited to one preparation. One of the team members found grilled crabstick to be delicious – so you can really get creative with your choices!

Cooked Foods

We had two sides – the Xiao Long Bao (Superb) and Mouthwatering Chicken (Signature). The Xiao Long Bao had a good amount of soup and meat filling, making it worth a second (or third) order.

The Mouthwatering Chicken had a balance of spicy, sour and salty, which really helped whet our appetites.

Value-For-Money Hotpot In Chinatown

Good Combo provided a satisfying eating experience with their large selection and solid broth options, making it a bang for your buck! We’d also like to shout out the staff who were polite and helpful throughout our time there.
