FOC By The Beach: Spanish Tapas & Jumbo Cocktails By The Pool In Sentosa

Few things beat a beachside sunset with a cocktail in hand! FOC By The Beach provides that exact experience complete with a menu of Spanish tapas and sharing plates.

The restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a revamped menu and refreshed look!

FOC has another stylish, modern concept in Chinatown but this space has a totally different vibe!

The entire area is themed like a bright beachside cabana, with a bright blue and white colour palette.

There’s indoor and outdoor seating, plus a whole pool! They also have beach cabanas for lounging.

The decor is homey but vibrant, adding personality to the space. We felt as if we were on holiday in Spain!

The food options revolve around sharing portions and Spanish flavours.

There’s a mix of seafood, cold cuts and grilled meats!

Options include starters like Japanese Hamachi Tiradito ($24), Pan Con Tomate ($14) and Assorted Spanish Cold Cuts ($30) like Chorizo, Serrano Ham and Sobrassada.

There’s a dedicated tapas menu! The selection includes Porcini Mushroom Croquetas ($15 for 4) and Huevos Rotos (from $16), featuring eggs and crispy potatoes with a choice of Iberico ham, chorizo or padron peppers.

A speciality item is Paella, which takes 30 minutes of preparation time. There is a medium size (3 to 4 pax) and large (5 pax)!

Flavours include Iberico Pork ($48/$94) and Chicken Drumlets & Saffron ($44/$86).

The menu even offers grilled meats like Home-made Chorizo ($24/250g), Lamb Shank ($36); or just get their FOC Parrillada ($68) with a mix of everything!

For drinks, they offer a comprehensive menu of cocktails like a FOC Sangria ($18/glass) or classics like a Bloody Mary ($20) and Margarita ($20).

Starters

For sharing, we tried the Grilled Avocado Salad ($22) and Tuna Tartare ($24).

We were impressed by the Avocado Salad! The slight char from the grill added a pleasant smokeiness, complemented by the zesty herb yoghurt dressing.

The tartare was served with a unique choice of plantain chips, which added a sweetness to the savoury fish.

Tapas

The Patatas Bravas FOC Style ($15 for 8) was served with dallops of homemade aioli and spicy brava sauce.

Each piece is made from thin layers of shaved potato, making it crunchy and light! It’s an elevated version of the homey dish.

The Iberico Ham Croquetas ($15 for 4) had iberico ham bits, adding a saltiness in every bite.

It got cloying after a while but we enjoyed the creamy and savoury filling!

Paella

Octopus & Squid Ink Paella

Between the Seafood Senyoret Paella ($50/$98) and Octopus & Squid Ink Paella ($54/$106), the squid ink paella stood out to us!

The umami from the squid ink is absorbed into the rice grains, making it addictive. We also liked the rice texture – a perfect al dente.

Seafood Senyoret Paella

The Senyoret Paella had a rich sweetness from the seafood base and tomatoes. If you prefer a brighter, refreshing flavour, the Senyoret is a good choice.

FOC Parrillada

The FOC Parrillada ($68) featured 5 cuts of grilled meat: French Yellow Chicken, Chorizo Sausage, Beef Tenderloin, Butifarra Sausage and Lamb ribs.

Our favourites were the chicken; with a tender  butteriness in the meat and the chorizo which had a punchy spice and smokiness.

Everything was well-seasoned and juicy, making a satisfying selection!
