Dewgather Coffee House: Glass Roof Cafe in Buona Vista Perfect for Brunch & Coffee

Dewgather, a new cafe that has a glass canopy that lets in lots of natural sunlight has opened in Star Vista. The Buona Vista cafe aims to be a refreshing space where people can come together over good coffee and food.

Cafe in Star VistaInterior and Glass Canopy of Dewgather

With the space decorated with terracotta tiles, concrete elements, and a glass canopy, it creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for patrons to rest and relax with a cuppa.

One of the things we noticed was how the alfresco seating area had more seats than the air-conditioned area. In total, it is able to accommodate up to 40 pax outdoors and 20 pax indoors.

Dewgather Cafe Menu

The early morning menu at Dewgather is available from 8am-11am on weekdays and 8am-9am on weekends. It consists of items such as toasties and assorted pastries. The toasties come in 5 different variants with quite the variety of ingredient combinations, ranging from $7 to $9. Some of the options include Triple Cream Brie, Truffle Honey and Vegemite ($8) and Pulled Pork, Smoked Cheddar and Sauerkraut ($9). You can also get your toastie in a set that comes with a cup of coffee for $10.

After 11 am, you can order from their main menu. (9 am on weekends) You can expect mains like their signature Dew Swordfish Pasta ($24), Barramundi Fish Burger ($25), and Chicken Parma & Chips ($19). For non-meat eaters, Dewgather also has vegetarian options such as The Aussie Crumpet ($15), French Toast ($18) and Dew Harvest Bowl with Grilled Halloumi ($22)

Dewgather also has a selection of compelling sides for you to savour alongside your main course, such as fish goujon & tartare sauce ($10), Chips with Garlic Aioli ($8), Apple & Savoury Cabbage Slaw ($6) and Roasted Japanese Kent Pumpkin ($6).

Their drink menu consists of the usual variety of espresso-based drinks, such as Black ($4), White ($4.50 for 6-oz and $5.50 for 8-oz), Mocha ($6.50), Espresso Tonic ($5), Dirty ($5), Black Cold Brew ($4.50) and White Cold Brew ($5.50). A single shot of espresso goes for $3 and a double for $3.50.  Soy or oat milk is available as a substitute for regular fresh milk (+$1).

There are a variety of non-coffee options available as well. Choose from Marou Hot Chocolate ($8), Ajisai Matcha Latte ($8) made using Niko Neko matcha and a selection of teas served in a pot, namely Camomile ($6), Cranberry Crush ($6), Blue Earl ($8) and French Rose Bud ($8).

Fruit juices ($6) and coolers ($5) are available as well.

Iced White

The Iced White came in two options, 6 oz ($4.5) or 8 oz ($5.5) and we went for the latter which came with 2 espresso shots. (Iced +$1)

Dewgather uses beans from Two Degree North Coffee Co for their coffee. We found it balanced and not too acidic.

Waffle & Fried Chicken

Beautifully plated, the Waffle & Fried Chicken ($20) features two slabs of deep-fried chicken thigh meat on top of a buttermilk waffle.

It’s accompanied by kimchi, pickled daikon, drizzled with garlic aioli, and served with a side of maple syrup.

While the chicken might look paler in comparison to other places serving fried chicken waffles, it was juicy, moist, and crisp on the outside. We heard that they use a different method of deep-frying the chicken to make it crispier.

We enjoyed how the kimchi and pickled daikon helped to cut through the greasiness at times. The pickled daikon paired with the fried chicken did remind us of the classic Korean fried chicken combination.

As for the buttermilk waffle, it had a well-executed crispy exterior, but we did find it slightly bland.

French Toast

One of the most instagrammable dishes here at Dewgather is the French Toast ($18). Featuring a thick-sliced brioche toast with a scoop of crème anglaise ice cream and berry compote on top. It’s sprinkled with brown sugar crumble and some crushed pistachio.

The highlight comes in the form of some candy floss topped on top, decorated with some edible petals and icing sugar.

We actually liked the candy floss touch which reminded us of the good’ol days at pasar malams and fairs. Since it melts pretty fast, the candy floss flavour is only limited to the first few bites.

After that, it’s a combination of the berry compote with the ice cream.

The brioche toast had nice crispy edges, but the inside of the bread was slightly on the dense side. However, it went pretty well with the melted ice cream.
