Café Natsu Clemenceau: Aesthetic Western Japanese Fusion Cafe In Orchard

If you’ve been an avid fan of Café Natsu at Joo Chiat, you’ll be happy to know they have officially opened a new outlet in Clemenceau! They are serving up Western brunch dishes with a touch of Japanese fusion.

Aesthetic Café Interior

The café is easily spotted from the outside, with its recognisable colour palette of peach, pink and rich green. The Clemenceau outlet also shares the same Japanese-inspired wave motifs in its design – mostly notably the accent table in the centre.

The walls are adorned with dried flowers, plants and mood lighting that really adds a cosiness to the space. Despite how ornate the entire café is, it isn’t too stifling thanks to its open-concept bar space.

Café Natsu Clemenceau Menu

The menu at Café Natsu Clemenceau differs slightly from Joo Chiat, with dishes like:

They also have a drink menu with coffee, tea and even alcoholic beverages.

Wagyu Sando

We tried Café Natsu’s Signature Wagyu Sando ($26) which came with Togarashi fries and yuzu kosho mayonnaise. The marbling on the beef was superb and it was tender, pairing well with the crunchy slaw and shishito pepper ketchup.

The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside with a slight kick from the Togarashi seasoning. We personally thought the dish could do with a bit more sauce, but it was still an indulgent sandwich nonetheless.

Florentine

The Florentine ($25) is an eggs benedict with a Japanese touch of dressed crab, wasabi spinach and miso hollandaise. The eggs were cooked perfectly with a runny centre, adding a pleasant creaminess to the dish.

The miso hollandaise was the star! It was buttery, creamy and umami from the miso, coating the crab and spinach for a perfect bite.

Kurozato Brown Sugar Tart

For dessert, we tried their two offerings. The first is the Kurozato Brown Sugar Tart ($12/slice) garnished with pecans and vanilla cream. The tart is slightly spiced and sweet, with a pleasant crunch from the pecans – would go perfectly with a cup of coffee!

Baked Hokkaido Cheese Tart

Those who miss the classic cheese tart can get Café Natsu’s Baked Hokkaido Cheese Tart ($8/piece). With a crispy, flaky crust and creamy centre, this is a pleasant end to the meal. The filling also has a slight citrus flavour to cut through the creaminess.

Signature Kombucha And Yuzu Spritz

For drinks, we tried the seasonal Signature Kombucha ($8) in Blood Orange Mint, which came in a pleasant coral orange colour. It was tangy with notable orange notes alongside the flavour from the fermentation. There’s also the Yuzu Spritz ($7) with a citron jam and sparkling water that was refreshing.

New Café Natsu Joo Chiat Menu

Café Natsu Joo Chiat has also rolled out a newly refreshed menu! More than half the menu has been improved with a stronger Japanese influence, with items like Wagyu Hamburg with Okonomiyaki ($26), Shortrib Ragu Kare Casarecce ($24) and Cold Somen with Confit Egg Yolk and Soy Dashi ($14).
