Previously already known for their pastries, Alice Boulangerie has returned with a full refresh! The cafe and restaurant in ICON Village presents an expanded dinner menu, including new desserts that join their repertoire of popular bakes.
Whimsical But Cosy Interior
Their space has undergone the biggest change, switching from their all-white look to a rich, mahogany-themed interior.
The decor is subtly squirrel-themed – from the colourful ‘roof’ tile feature wall to the wooden storage nooks.
It is now warmer and more inviting, with an enticing outdoor display of their bakes and cakes along the mall’s walkway.
New Alice Boulangerie Dinner Menu
The new dinner selections include sharing plates and mains, starting with the Seared Foie Gras Toast ($32) and Otak Prawn Croquette ($19).
There’s also the Pork Belly Claypot Rice ($42) cooked in a mushroom kombu broth and Sakura ‘Cherry Blossom’ Pork Loin ($60) with two different sauces. These larger plates are good for 2 to 3 pax comfortably!
Their signature dishes are all still available, including the Tiger Prawn Capellini ($29) and Wagyu Beef Cheek Risotto ($37). Choose from desserts like the Squirrel ($14), with chocolate mousse and pecan brownie.
Sharing Plates
Coming with five perfectly stacked ovals, the Otak Prawn Croquette ($19) had the alluring smell of curry leaves. The filling was fragrant and bouncy, with an enjoyable spice and bite from the prawn. We did find it to be on the salty side.
Another new addition is the Seabream Crudo ($28), with ponzu tare and sauce from Aji Amarillo, a Peruvian chilli pepper.
The fish had a firm bite and the ponzu added a pleasant citrusy twist, though we found that the chilli sauce overwhelmed the sweetness of the other elements. We liked the added kick of the spice!
We were surprised by the generous portion of the Foie Gras Toast ($32) – the bread was barely visible. The pistachio crust was a great touch with an added crunch and nuttiness, which complemented the richness.
It had the usual gameiness associated with foie gras, but the other elements like raisins and balsamic compote helped balance it!
Laksa Paella
The Laksa Paella ($46) had a bouquet of seafood, including prawns, octopus and mussels! It had an enticing laksa fragrance, but we felt it did not taste as prominent as it smelled.
The rice had the richness of coconut milk with a nice kick of spice and an added sweetness from the seafood. We think it could do with more laksa flavour!
Sakura ‘Cherry Blossom’ Pork Loin
The Sakura ‘Cherry Blossom’ Pork Loin ($60) was fatty and tender with a pronounced smokiness from the gill.
We enjoyed the savoury, umami-rich green peppercorn jus; which added an addictive flavour! It was quite fatty which may be overbearing for some, but the side of mustard greens can help cut through it!
Unfortunately, we could not try the spiced apple sauce but we think the sweetness would have been a nice complement.
Plated Desserts
The dinner menu introduces two plated desserts: Pebbles and Forest.
Pebbles ($22) featured black sesame mochi, peanut butter crumble and raspberry jam.
The mochi were aptly shaped to look like pebbles and it was visually appealing. We liked the prominent black sesame flavour of the mochi, but felt the gelato could have a stronger flavour.
Forest ($23) is reminiscent of a black forest cake, with 72% dark chocolate, cherry compote, almond chantilly cream and kirsch-infused morello cherries.
It’s shaped like a log, ornately decorated with edible flowers! The balance of the sour cherries, mellow cream and dark chocolate gelato made for a balanced bite that wasn’t too rich.
