Korea is known for its local food scene, but the selection of Western food is just as interesting and varied! An example is Egg & Flour, a pasta restaurant in Haebangchon, that has earned a spot on the Michelin Guide with a menu of freshly made pasta dishes infused with Korean flavours.
Vibey Seating Area
The restaurant is in an unassuming building at the end of a road but hides a super vibey interior.
Think mood lighting, jazz music and a patio seating area that had glass windows with a view of Haebangchon! It’s good for both romantic and casual gatherings.
We recommend securing a reservation via CatchTable as they are usually full during dinner.
Egg & Flour Menu
The menu is small but focused on freshly made pasta that earned its spot on the Michelin Guide.
The pasta selection includes Shrimp & Squid Ink Cappelini (30,000 won) and Truffle & Mushroom Tagliatelle (27,000 won); alongside seasonal options!
They offer sharing plates like Burrata Cheese with Seaweed (17,000 won) and Homemade Caprese Platter (20,000 won); plus grilled proteins such as Chuck Flap Steak (from 30,000 won).
Do note that they require an alcoholic drink order per person for dinner service.
Salsiccia Eggyolk Pappardelle
The Salsiccia Eggyolk Pappardelle (27,000 won) was coated in a luscious-looking eggy sauce.
Each element on the plate was perfectly executed! The pasta was chewy but soft and had a slight eggy fragrance and this held up to the creamy sauce with a subtle zestiness from the charred lemon that balanced everything out.
We also liked the salty bite from the salsiccia (sausage) bits!
Galbi Ragu & Black Pepper Reginetti
The Galbi Ragu & Black Pepper Reginetti (29,000 won) featured a fun pasta shape. Regintti has curls and ridges that catch the sauce and meat to create a satisfying mouthfeel.
Despite not using cream, the sauce was almost creamy, coating every strand of pasta.
It was savoury and fatty from the ragu but contrasted by the spice of chilli peppers, making it spicy but addictive!
