Pepero is probably one of the most well-known Korean snacks. They can be easily found anywhere, convenience stores, supermarkets and even in some local mama shops. There’s also Pepero Day in Korea, which falls on November 11th where friends and couples give each other Pepero, to show appreciation to one another.
While Pepero is known to continuously launch new flavours, with hits such as the Cookies and Cream flavour, this newly launched Pepero is slightly different from the rest.
Pepero x Jellycious
If you have never heard of Jellycious, it’s a line of products, mainly jellies, under the Lotte brand. These jellies can be easily found in convenience stores throughout Korea. The new Pepero Chocolate Jelly resembles the Pepero Nude Chocolate Sticks in terms of appearance. However, as the name suggests, the new product is made entirely out of jelly.
The jelly consists of two distinct layers – the outer lighter brown is a choco-vanilla flavoured jelly while the inner darker brown is a milk chocolate filling.
Several comments have said that if you remove the milk chocolate filling, it tastes like an old school snack, 호박꿀맛나 (Ho-bak-kul-mat-na) which can be directly translated to Delicious Honey Pumpkin.
When we saw the new Pepero Choco Jellies, we were immediately reminded of the old school Choki Choki chocolate paste sticks, a popular childhood snack for many Singaporeans.
For now, these Pepero Choco Jellies are available at CU convenience stores in Korea. One box is retailing at 1,500 won.
