Onggii: Authentic And Comforting Korean Food In Suntec City, Including Gukbap

You’ve probably come across the viral sensation SOTPOT on social media! On March 29, the same owners are set to launch Onggii, a new Korean restaurant tucked in a corner of Suntec City, offering authentic Korean comfort food.

Chic, Industrial Interior

Onggii - Interior

Onggii has a clean and minimalistic interior design featuring a monochromatic palette. The combination of black brick walls and beige limewash creates a modern and cosy ambience, complemented by sofa booths.

Onggii Menu

The menu offers a variety of Korean soul broth with 3 types of meat option – pork, chicken, and beef, featuring specialties like Dak Gomtang ($15.90) and Dewji Gamja Tang ($17.90). You can also enjoy stew sets such as Kimchi Jjigae ($22.90) and Chadol Doenjang Jjigae ($16.90)

For sharing, try the classic Kimchi Cheese Jeon or the Dak Muchim ($22.90) and So Suyuk ($29.90)!

Gukbap

Each serving of gukbap includes a side dish and a cup of blackberry soju. Noodles and rice are served separately from the soup, allowing you to enjoy them on their own or added into the soup!

The Dweji Gomtang ($16.90) was one of our favourites of the night. The broth was lightly seasoned, with no gamey smell of pork at all!

We also tried the So Gomtang ($21.90), featuring generous portions of tender beef slices. While the meat was tender, we found its gamey taste to be a bit strong.

For those who find the soup too simple, adding a scoop of their yangnyeom paste provides an extra kick!

Kimchi Jjim

The Kimchi Jjim ($22.90) came with a generous serving of kimchi, soaking up the rich flavours of the stew, which will go well with a bowl of rice. Although well-seasoned and not overly salty, we felt that a bit more spice would elevate the flavours further.

Galbi-Jjim

Another highlight was the Galbi-Jjim ($34.90), which was worth a shoutout. These short ribs were coated in a classic sweet and soy sauce, that left a lasting impression. It had no strong gamey flavour, with the perfect balance of meat and fattiness!
