We’re back in one of our favourite neighbourhoods in Seoul, and this time we’re visiting Oldies Taco, one of the hottest spots in Euljiro-3-ga. Every time we walk past this taco stand, the place is packed with customers lining up for their food.
Taco Stand in Euljiro-3-ga
The taco stand offers up a very simple menu with two versions of tacos. The Oldies Taco (4,900won) features thinly sliced beef brisket while the Birria Taco (5,900won) features a mix of hanwoo sliced meat and beef brisket.
They also have Taco Rice (7,000won) which features a mix of beef and pork slow-cooked in a tomato sauce, served with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, red salsa sauce, onions and cilantro.
If you’re visiting with friends, the Mega Bomb Snack (9,900won) is a perfect sharing dish. Think Doritos with minced meat, salsa sauce, cilantro and onions.
We managed to get a small spot inside the Taco stand, which can fit up to 6 pax standing. You can also opt to stand right outside the shop, which feels a bit less suffocating.
Initially, we only opted for the Oldies Taco, which looked like a classic. There was avocado sauce, white sauce, salsa, onions, lime and cilantro alongside the beef brisket. It was a simple taco, with the flavours blending well with each other.
However, right in front of us was the staff grilling the Birria Tacos, which looked exceptional. Hence, we ordered it as well.
Perhaps it was the combination of meat, sauce and cheese, but after having a bite of the Birria Taco, the Oldies Taco felt slightly lacking in flavour. The Birria was way stronger in terms of flavour and had nicer textures. If anyone finds a less messy way to eat Tacos, please let us know! Juices were dripping when we bit into this.
