15 Seasonal McDonald’s Pies That We Wished Were Permanent Menu Items

When it comes to desserts at McDonald’s, one of the most classic items is the Apple Pie. While it cannot be replaced, we do love the different pie flavours that McDonald’s has constantly churned out these past few years.

While not all of McDonald’s pies have been well accepted, such as the pink coloured peach pie, there has been quite a few successful pie flavours. One of the most recent ones would be the Chocolate Pie and the Oreo Cookies and Cream Pie in Malaysia.

Here are some of the seasonal McDonald’s Pies in Singapore and Malaysia that we wished were permanent menu items, in no order of ranking:

Banana Pie

The Banana Pie that was last seen in April 2019 together with the relaunch of the Nasi Lemak Burger and was quite a hit amongst Singaporeans. Bearing a slight resemblance to the Goreng Pisang, the Banana Pie was a great dessert when eaten together with the Nasi Lemak Burger.

The most recent pie to be brought back by McDonald’s is the Chocolate Pie. While the Chocolate Pie gathered mixed reviews back when it first launched in Singapore, most of the general public seemed to love the pie.

Now that it’s back, you can grab it before it’s gone (again).

Good things come in pairs.

What happens when you combine the chocolate pie and banana pie? You get one of the best pies McDonald’s has ever offered.

The Choco Banana Pie was one of the best pies made by McDonald’s. The molten chocolate mixed with the banana filling was super satisfying. When will McDonald’s bring this back?

Coconut Pie

The Coconut Pie was released in 2017 together with the Nasi Lemak Burger. You may remember the Chendol McFlurry that was released together as well.

The coconut pie had a similar crust to the classic apple pie – filled with coconut filling and nata de coco bits.

Malaysia also had a similar version called the Young Coconut Pie back in 2015.

Unknown to many, but McDonald’s Malaysia released a Pai Bubur Cha Cha back in 2016. It was a take on the Nyonya dessert, the Bubur Cha Cha, also known as Bo Bo Cha Cha.

The pie is filled with a coconut cream that had tiny cubes of yam.

Corn Pie

The representative pie of Thailand McDonald’s. It was also reported that the corn pie was released in Korea due to popular demand.

A mix of corn and cream held together by their signature pie shell, reviews online said the filling tasted like corn soup.

It was available in Malaysia, July 2019.

Red Bean Pie

The red bean pie was launched together with the well-loved Prosperity burger back in 2018. While the pie is not as popular as the Chocolate Pie, the Red Bean Pie has its own crowd of supporters. The crispy crust paired with the red bean paste was a delight to many.

White Choc Strawberry Cream Pie

The White Chocolate Strawberry Cream Pie is one of the newer pies and was released together with the Roasted Sesame Ebi Burger back in August 2019. The pie crust was slightly different compared to the usual apple pie crust, being more on the flaky spectrum.

The only cutback was that the filling wasn’t as gooey as we expected. The filling was creamy and had adequate hints of strawberry.

Creamy Herb Chicken Pie

McDonald’s first savoury pie in Australia was the Creamy Herb Chicken Pie. While there were mixed reviews, we always welcome the idea of a savoury pie.

Hopefully, this will be back soon, better than ever.

Mango Passionfruit Pie

The Mango Passionfruit Pie was the latest release to hit our shores. While the pie didn’t have much passionfruit flavour as advertised, we don’t hate the idea of a good mango pie.

Should we come up with some McDonald Pie Flavours like how we came up for some other flavours for Pocky? Mango Sticky Rice Pie anyone?

Taro Pie

Singapore once had a Taro Pie back in 2013, together with the release of the honey lemon drumlets. It was slightly different from other fast food outlets, with tiny bits of yam cubes in the filling.

Oreo Cookies and Cream Pie

Just last year, McDonald’s Malaysia released an Oreo Cookies and Cream Pie. The pie is said to be made with real Oreo cookies in a crispy chocolate crust.

This was also a hit among many who tried the pie, with some quoting it as their favourite McDonald’s Pie so far.

Pulut Hitam Pie

Another local flavoured pie by McDonald’s is the Pulut Hitam Pie which was served with generous amounts of black glutinous rice filling.

Karipap Pie

Back in 2017, McDonald’s Malaysia launched the Karipap Pie which is essentially a curry puff. Like the Creamy Herb Chicken Pie, this was one of the rare savoury pies that McDonald’s had.

Salted Caramel and Chocolate Pie

This is one sinful pie with the salted caramel and chocolate filling side by side. The saltiness in the salted caramel was as prominent as expected. However, the buttery vanilla notes from the caramel paired well with the chocolate.

Which is your favourite McDonald’s Pie? Which pie would you want as a permanent menu item?
