Croffles

Croffles with Ice Cream, Sprinkled with Injeolmi Powder and Slices of Strawberries. A Cup of Black Coffee on the side.

Here’s where it all started.

While croffles were a thing in Singapore a few years back, they have surged in popularity in Korea these recent years, with cafes serving this treat with toppings like injeolmi, ice cream, and even grated cheese.

This led to more experimentation and people coming up with interesting recipes for waffle makers.

Croffles are relatively easy to make – just place some ready-made croissant dough on the waffle maker and wait for it to turn golden brown.

We topped ours with some classic vanilla ice cream, injeolmi powder, and some fruits.

Rice Cake Waffles

When we say rice cakes, we’re not talking about the ones you put in your tteokbokki, although it’s possible. We’re talking about traditional Korean rice cakes like Injeolmi and Jeolpyeon.

One of the most common Korean rice cake waffle recipes is to use pieces of Injeolmi rice cake and place them on the waffle pan.

We used some Injeolmi we got from a local Korean rice cake shop and topped it with some sliced strawberries and extra pieces of injeolmi.
