Keng Eng Kee Seafood Opens New Outlet In Tampines Serving Claypot Crab Vermicelli, Moonlight Hor Fun And More

Keng Eng Kee (KEK) Seafood is a third-generation owned restaurant with over 50 years of history since their first outlet in Bukit Merah. They have now opened an outlet in the east at SAFRA Tampines

Satisfying Home Style Dishes

KEK Seafood offers a whole variety of familiar zichar favourites, but they have a few special dishes exclusive only to Tampines

The zichar offerings by Kek Seafood, including the Claypot KEK-style Carb Vermicelli, Moonlight Hor Fun and more

The special menu items include the Claypot Premium Collagen Soup (from $24.80) full of pig organs, fish maw and tau pok in a spicy white pepper broth and Homemade Tofu Loofah with Sliced Fish (from $18.80), with a silky sauce and tender fish slices. The soup was sweet and had no funk from the pig organs plus a good kick from the white pepper that can whet your appetite.

The star of the show was definitely the Claypot KEK-style Vermicelli Crab ($88/kg, seasonal price), served Cantonese style with hot oil poured onto the dish at the table. If you’re someone who loves garlic, this will be right up your alley! The dish is garnished with a copious amount of garlic, complimenting the noodles that absorbed the rich and flavourful seafood broth. They also offer other variations of crab dishes like Chilli Crab, Salted Egg and Black Pepper for your choosing.

Another signature is the Moonlight Hor Fun (from $7.80), served with a raw egg yolk in the middle. The noodles were well-seasoned and had a strong wok hey flavour that’s hard to find in Singapore, mellowed with the creamy egg yolk. The restaurant is very generous with their ingredients, and each bite had prawns, squid, bean sprouts which made for a satisfying bite.

You can also try the Claypot Pig Liver (from $18.80) with rice, a classic zichar dish with fresh liver slices and spring onion in a savoury soy sauce gravy and their Claypot Braised Duck with Yam (from $29.80), a family recipe passed down three generations with slow-braised duck, mushrooms and yam pieces. All these dishes have delicious sauces that go very well with rice, so don’t hesitate to ask for more! They also have the familiar Coffee Pork Ribs (from $15.80) and their Golden Pearl Rolls (from $14.80), fried taupok puffs stuffed with mushrooms, prawns and egg.

KEK Seafood is great for family gatherings and celebrations with their selection of hearty and unpretentious food at fair prices! The restaurant can get crowded during dinner, so make sure to head down early!
