Now that most travel restrictions have been lifted, we can finally head to one of our favourite destinations to visit, Bali! Even though Bali is famous for its gorgeous beaches and rich culture, it is also known for having some of the most beautiful cafes in the region that serve delicious food. Here’s a list of 25 Instagrammable cafes in Bali that are sure to keep your taste buds happy and your Instagram feed looking fresh!

Cafes in Seminyak

KYND COMMUNITY

First on our Instagram-worthy cafes in Bali list is Kynd Community! Kynd Community offers patrons guilt-free indulgence with their 100% plant-based menu. Their premise houses a restaurant, bar, “peacezza-ria” and ice creamery leaving diners with quite a variety of options to choose from. The decor is bright and lively, featuring walls painted in bright pink and colourful wall murals, accompanied by gorgeous palm trees and wooden furniture.

It really captures the essence of tropical beauty. Food choices include their signature plant-based “peace-zzas” with toppings like truffled shrooms and Papi’s pepperoni. You can also sip on an Espresso martini while dining in the open air under the enchanting ambience of the string lights.

Gourmet Cafe

Gourmet Cafe brings fresh new vibes to the cafe scene with its Mediterranean-inspired theme. A tall palm tree is at the core of the restaurant, with elements of traditional Indonesian design making their presence throughout the space. There is ample natural light and greenery, and the entire cafe is adorned with green accents, adding to the natural look. All-day breakfast is available at Gourmet Cafe, with the usual staples like avocado toast, as well as interesting items such as bubur ayam and pistachio porridge. There is also the option to design your own organic cold-pressed juices or even build your own salads and sandwiches!

Doppio Cafe Pink

Doppio Cafe actually has two outlets, one in Canggu, and one in Seminyak, which is known as Doppio Cafe Pink. You have probably seen the latter pop up on your Instagram feed, with its signature pink walls, white doors and Moroccan-style tiles. The signature pink bicycle parked outside the door is also a landmark of this cafe. The cafe has super laid-back and chill vibes. Food options include all-day breakfast, smoothie bowls, and even protein smoothies. There are also vegan options and local dishes such as nasi goreng and mee goreng!

Kilo Kitchen Bali

Kilo Bali first found its home in Singapore, serving primarily Asian Fusion and Latin American cuisine. Its upscale outlet in Seminyak presents itself as an architectural masterpiece. With its full window walls, exposed concrete flooring, and furniture made from the finest timber, Kilo manages to create an enchanting ambience that is both modern and rustic. The breakfast menu consists of classics like eggs benedict and breakfast burrito, while the lunch and dinner menus have a wide selection of dishes inspired by both Asian and Western cuisine – they even have a raw menu that has dishes like steak tartare, ceviche and prawn salad.

Batik Restaurant Bar

Batik Restaurant Bar in Seminyak has a captivating ambience – the restaurant has a colonial theme with white flooring and ample use of natural materials like rattan furniture and marble tables. The premise houses an outdoor patio with a wooden deck and an indoor dining area with two levels. One of the highlights is the batik themed interior – the lampshade, cushions and tall curtains all feature the intricate artwork. The food at Batik Restaurant Bar draws influences from Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, with options like seafood curry risotto, lumpia, pho, and Ayam betutu – chicken marinated with Balinese spices cooked in banana leaf. This was one of our favourite cafes in Bali when we visited pre-Covid.

Café Kim Soo

Kim Soo doubles up as a gallery that sells homewares such as cushion covers, bedding, clothing and art. Their expertise in tasteful interior design spills over to their cafe as well, with an aesthetic monochromatic theme. It is clean, simple and elegant – you can sit there for hours and people-watch, without realising that time is flying by. There are the usual classics like a breaky fry-up, tropical fruit bowl, as well dishes from different cuisines like poke, butter chicken curry, nasi goreng and quesadillas. A range of their homemade cakes is available for you to select from as well!

Da Maria

Da Maria’s highly acclaimed design is inspired by the Amalfi coast. The entire restaurant is decorated with a pastel blue and white theme, from the ceilings and walls down to the straws. There are blue and white motifs all over the restaurant, and the shapes and patterns come together to give a striking outlook to the restaurant. Dashes of bright yellow in the sofa and cushions break up the otherwise dichotomous colour scheme. Da Maria serves scrumptious authentic Italian cuisine – such as their pizza which is cooked in local lava ovens, house-made pasta, gnocchi, braised lamb ragu and chicken cotoletta.

Coffee Cartel

Spread across two levels, Coffee Cartel’s outlet in Seminyak is designed with simplicity and minimalism in mind. Like many cafes in Bali, its interior features a mixture of rattan and wood furnishings, resulting in a timeless look. The food choices are plenty, starting with an all-day breakfast with classics like Eggs Benny, Bacon n Egg McMuffin and bagels. Other options include a poke bowl and a 12-hour smoked brisket burger. For drinks, there are speciality lattes like pink beetroot and charcoal, as well as smoothies and fresh juice. The highlight at Coffee Cartel is the in-house ripple machine that allows any image that you want to be printed on your coffee, perfect for some aesthetic photos!

Motel Mexicola

Motel Mexicola brings with it a unique charm that captivates anyone who sets foot into it. Its walls are lined with many portraits, paintings and artefacts that at first glance appear cluttered, but they grow on you and blend in with the character of the cafe. Everywhere you look, there are bright colours, floral and tropical patterns on the walls, staircases and pillars. The food served is predominantly Mexican, with options like tacos with a choice of different cuts of beef, fish or chicken, quesadillas and churros. At night, the entire place transforms into a bar, chock-full of partygoers looking to dance the night away.

Desa Meksiko Cafe

At first glance, Desa Meksiko cafe reminds us of looking through a kaleidoscope. This truly unique cafe brings new meaning to the word eye-catching, as the smorgasbord of different coloured tiles, patterns and designs on the walls are as vibrant as Mexico’s cuisine. Situated above the colourful staircase, is a big mural of famed Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. Desa Meksiko serves up Mexican classics like quesadillas, tacos, burritos and churros, as well as Nasi Goreng and Bakmie Goreng. Get your fix of booze in as well with their signature cocktails – be sure to check out their fascinating names!

Cosmic Diner

Cosmic Diner is designed to transport you back in time to an American diner from the ‘60s – and with its black-and-white checkered flooring, bright red diner booth seats, the Gingham tablecloth and striking teal walls, it does a brilliant job at that. There are retro elements like the red telephone with a rotary dial, and even the music that is playing is on point, adding to the vintage vibe that this cafe oozes. Cosmic Diner is well known for its all-day breakfast and Mexican breakfast, but also has other options like baby back ribs, chicken parmigiana, burgers, rice bowls and dessert.

Crumb and Coaster

Crumb and Coaster is a place where you can sit down to enjoy a peaceful brunch, away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. It has a unique interior design that mashes together both modern and vintage elements in an extremely tasteful fashion. It features marble tables, antique furnishings and concrete flooring, along with high ceilings that allow in copious amounts of sunlight giving the cafe an open and airy atmosphere. The usual brunch offerings like pancakes, eggs benedict and croissants are on offer, along with smoothie bowls and cold-pressed juice.

Mannaka Bali

Stepping into Mannaka Coffee is like walking into someone’s home – it really has some of the most welcoming interiors we have seen in a cafe. You are first invited by a stone walkway lined with pebbles into the storefront that resembles a kitchen counter. Embodying Japanese minimalist design, the decor consists of clean and simple elements like white bricks, wooden stools and benches, and plenty of natural lighting. It is a refreshingly different design from typical cafes in Bali. Coffee is served to go, with offerings such as charcoal latte, cappucino and matchapresso.

Nook

Nook, in Kerobokan is another cafe that is situated in the tranquil setting of paddy fields. From where you sit as you dine, you can see farmers in the paddy fields hard at work. This cafe has risen to Instagram fame because of its picturesque views, but it also serves up some pretty good fare – mainly western food such as grilled cheese, pulled pork benedict, salads and burgers. The interior of this cafe is as beautiful as the views that it beholds, with an open-air concept housing wooden and rattan furniture, combined with light fixtures woven with straw.

Cafes in Denpasar

Noir Cafe

Noir Cafe has a one-of-a-kind design – when stepping into the cafe, it almost feels like you are walking into a life-sized comic book. This is because the cafe’s design revolves around a 2D theme – walls are meticulously decorated with bookshelves, framed paintings, and ornaments which are all drawn with black lines against a white backdrop. Even the tables and chairs have a black outline. The cafe has 2 floors, with the first floor offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Menu items include western dishes like a Wagyu Burger as well as local classics like Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng and Ayam Bakar.

Sala Bistro & Coffee

Sala Bistro is a neighbourhood cafe in Sanur that serves up Western-Asian food. It has a very neat and minimalistic design with a spacious layout. White walls, the tasteful use of wood and rattan throughout the cafe, coupled with huge edge to edge glass windows give this space an expansive feel. There is also outdoor seating under a wooden pergola with a canopy, for you to enjoy your meal al fresco. The menu at Sala Bistro has brunch offerings like hash benedict, salad bowls and even vegan options like vegan chilli scrambled tofu. There is also an in-house bakery with croissants, tarts, cruffins, madeleines and many other goodies.

Cafes in Ubud

Yellow Flower Cafe

Yellow Flower Cafe offers one of the best views in Ubud, overlooking the Campuhan Valley. As you dine, you will be situated amongst nature with shrubs and greenery surrounding you, making for a truly memorable experience. The Balinese-owned cafe also prides itself on using the freshest organic produce, sourced locally from farmers in the surrounding regions. One of the must-try items is the Cempaka Flower Water, made from what is known as the ‘Flower of the Gods’. The menu at Yellow Flower Cafe is vast, offering items like smoothie bowls, their popular F.A.T, or Feta Avocado Toast, pasta, risotto and local dishes like Nasi Campur.

Cafe Pomegranate

Cafe Pomegranate is another spot with a view of paddy fields, this time located in Ubud. It is one of the best places to catch the sunset, due to its breathtaking panoramic views. The entire dining area is located under a giant canopy – making for a 360-degree open-air dining experience. Their dishes are inspired by a variety of Asian cuisines, from Singaporean-style wanton noodles to Japanese-style pork cutlet and a 9-spice Indian curry. The entire setting is reminiscent of dining in a traditional Balinese hut, with a view of paddy fields as far as the eyes can see.

Kebun Bistro

Situated in downtown Ubud, Kebun Bistro showcases the refined simplicity of Provencal-style design. The stucco wall, brick pillars, chandeliers and forged metal railings create a rustic atmosphere that transports you back to France. Even the wooden furniture has a gentle patina that gracefully shows its age. Kebun Bistro offers the best of Mediterranean cuisine, predominantly French delicacies like Duck Confit and Croque Monsieur. Their expansive menu has brunch, paella, pasta, pizza, salads and much more. There is even a tapas menu with items like Arancini Balls and Calamari Fritti, great for sharing.

Cafes in Canggu

Folie Kitchen & Patisserie

Folie Kitchen & Patisserie is a sprightly little joint in Canggu that offers a French dining experience. One of the highlights of this spot is the outdoor dining area, which is a bright and airy spot sheltered by a wooden pergola, allowing the natural light to really bring out the rich colour of the rattan and wooden furniture. The bright pastel coloured furniture goes great against the pink walls and there is even a floral mural which adds another burst of colour.

As for food, you can go for dishes like Angel Hair Aglio e Olio, Croissanwich, and Beef Wellington, or try out some of the pastries like their Strawberry Tart Folie and Passion Fruit Tart Folie.

Penny Lane

Penny Lane gives off super upscale vibes from the moment you walk in – its popularity on social media is no surprise as the restaurant has so many different styles and themes that make you feel as though you are dining in a palace. Miniature palm trees are placed throughout the sizable expanse and tall chandeliers add to the grandeur of the ambience. The restaurant is an open-air venue, with lots of wall decorations, art pieces, a ping-pong table and more corners for you to take Insta-worthy pictures than you can imagine!

Be sure to try out the popular items like the Poutine Burger, Moroccan Barramundi, or their interestingly-named fries, Pablo Escobar and Notorious P.I.G when you visit this cafe in Bali!

Revolver Espresso

Revolver Espresso is a boutique coffee house that has outlets in Oberoi, Petitenget and Canggu. Its Canggu outlet has a European-style interior that uses bricks and dark hardwoods to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere that can be likened to an old English pub. The cafe is gun themed, obvious from the two crossed rifles that are displayed on the wall, which are as eye-catching as it is intimidating.

This theme extends to the menu as well – for breakfast, try out The Holster, Double Barrel or Russian Roulette and for lunch, go for the AK-47, which is mac and cheese or a burger named Bandido. They also have an extensive cocktail menu and lots of caffeinated drinks to choose from.

La Brisa Bali

It’s almost impossible to miss this spot on Instagram, as many Bali-goers view it as a must-visit destination – and with good reason. La Brisa is a beach club that is situated at one of the spots in Bali with the best sunset views. The entire premise is made with wood from old fisherman’s boats and decorated with ocean-themed items like seashells, fishing rods and nets. It makes the place look truly majestic and adds to the character of the island. Sustainability is at the top of the list at La Brisa as well, ingredients are sourced locally and fish and seafood served are caught by local fishermen.

Milu by Nook

Milu by Nook offers a dining experience with a view like no other, overlooking the vast rice fields of Canggu. A blend of Balinese and western food is available with classic brunch dishes, burgers, sandwiches, smoothie bowls and even vegetarian and vegan options. There is ample natural lighting and everywhere you look, there are plants and lush greenery. The tasteful use of light fixtures and furniture made from rattan and wood make you feel as though you are dining amongst nature. There is both an indoor dining area and an outdoor dining area, sheltered by a pergola.

HoiAn by MeVui

HoiAn by MeVui is situated at one of the most breathtaking spots in Canggu, overlooking the vast paddy fields. The restaurant features a rustic and homely interior featuring rattan and wooden furniture, and warm and bright yellow walls. They serve up scrumptious Vietnamese cuisine such as bánh mi, pho, spring rolls and have quite an expansive variety of Vietnamese dishes, including a vegan and vegetarian menu. However, the main attraction at HoiAn is the outdoor dining experience overlooking the rice fields, as you can experience the fresh breeze while taking in the breathtaking views of the sunset.
