Indulgence by Roxey: 2-Storey Cafe With Korean-Inspired Dishes Over At Kembangan

Opened in Dec 2021, Indulgence by Roxey is a new cafe/restaurant/bar over at Telok Kurau, the area that houses cafes like The Brewing Ground, Simplicite by FFL and Nicole’s Flower Cafe.

The cafe has 2 floors, with the first floor slightly smaller in size, able to occupy around 16 pax. There are also 2 alfresco tables for those who prefer a natural breeze.

Here you can take a look at the bakes available, such as croissants, muffins and cookies.

On the second floor, there are plenty of tables and can hold more than 40 pax. There’s also a neon sign with the Korean heart gesture that’ll probably make a nice backdrop for your photos.

Menu at Indulgence by Roxey

The menu here at Indulgence by Roxey is quite extensive, with different items such as pasta and pizzas, cocktails and coffee.

For Pastas, they have a Namsan Tower Pasta ($16), which is your choice of spaghetti or Pappardelle served with smoked bacon in creamy kimchi sauce. (Why Namsan Tower though 🤔)

There’s also a Krusty Krab ($16) which is a crab meat spicy tomato-based pasta.

Pizza-wise, the one that stands out the most is the Train to Busan ($15), a tomato sauce-based pizza with honey baked chicken ham, kimchi and mozzarella. They also have options like Al Funghi ($15), Rendang ($16) and Chilli Crab ($16).

Brunch options include items like granola bowls, big breakfast platters and Croque madame.

Blue Surf

Coming in an interesting shade of blue, the Blue Surf is a Hawaiian Surf & Turf Pizza with shrimp, ham, pineapple and mozzarella cheese. The dough is incorporated with the butterfly pea flower to give it colour.

Their pizza is a cross between Neapolitan and New Haven-styled pizzas, which results in a thin-crusted pizza with a chewy texture. We did find this chewier compared to usual pizzas, almost like bread.

Azzuro Aglio Olio

The Azzuro Aglio Olio is a dish made using blue-coloured pasta! The pasta is handmade using butterfly pea flower, eggs and Italian flour. It’s served with shrimps, garlic and chilli flakes.

The Orient

The Orient ($30) is a sharing platter with Braised Korean Pork Belly, inspired by Bossam, Indonesian-style roasted pork belly served with kimchi and achar, as well as 5 pieces of Gyoza.

We loved the flavours of the pork belly slices, which had a nice balance of fat to meat ratio.

Chilli Crab Shakshuka

The Chilli Crab Shakshuka ($12) is part of their brunch menu, featuring a warmly spiced dish of eggs poached in a chilli crab tomato-based sauce with crabmeat. It comes with buttered toast, which was on the crumbly side.

Oppa Saranghaeyo

Apart from draft beers and wines, you can find some cocktails here at Indulgence by Roxey. There’s Gin & Tonic ($13), Daiquiri ($16) and Pina Colada ($16).

Oppa Saranghaeyo ($33) is a watermelon soju bomb served in watermelon fruit. This can serve up to 4 to 5 pax. If you’re looking for something smaller in size, you can opt for the Noona Saranghaeyo ($16), which is basically the same thing served in a glass.

New Cafe in the East

Is the east side truly the best side? Even with so many cafes in the East already, it seems like new ones are constantly popping up in the area. Indulgence by Roxey makes a nice spot for some a meal, especially if you want to escape the crowd over at Joo Chiat.
