Hei Kim Cafe opened back in 2018, with a lifestyle corner selling a variety of items such as bags and accessories. However, a recent visit to the cafe and we realized that the lifestyle corner is no longer there, and they had new items on their menus such as Speculoos Coffee and Black Sesame Coffee/Matcha.
Hei Kim Cafe Interior
With glass panels lining the entrance of the cafe, the cafe is drenched in a beautiful layer of natural lighting. With an array of marbled tables and wooden tables, we’d imagine it to be the perfect background for photos.
For solo cafe-hoppers, you can choose to sit near the windows to avoid any awkward eye contact with other customers. Perfect for introverts as well.
There’s still a corner with all the cards (which we assume were for sale), but the display was rather dusty.
During Phase 2, like all other food establishments, SafeEntry is required and no more than 5 people at a table.
Hei Kim Cafe Menu
Hei Kim offers a variety of items from their brunch and all-day breakfast menu. There are more unique food items such as the Furikado, which is essentially smashed avocado on toast with a Japanese twist.
There’s a Banana Bread French Toast option here for fans of banana bread and French toast.
They also have a rotating menu for their Cake of The Day, such as Apple Pie Cake, Holiday Cake and Strawberry Lemon Cake.
Special drinks include the Speculoos Coffee, Black Sesame Coffee/Matcha and Orange Coffee.

Hei Kim Cafe Review
Here were some of the items we tried:
Speculoos Coffee ($6)
Coffee topped with cream and Speculoos crumbles and a bit of speculoos syrup. To our surprise, it wasn’t as sweet as we imagined and had a nice coffee flavour. Take note that if you leave the speculoos crumbles in for a long time, they lose their crunch and the texture is simply not pleasing.
Black Sesame Coffee ($6)
We only came across this menu item back in Korea and were definitely more than happy to see this in a local cafe.
The Black Sesame Coffee came with 3 distinct beautiful layers – milk, espresso and sesame cream.
It was like watching a piece of art in the form of coffee.
Taste-wise, the sesame flavour could have been slightly stronger as the coffee aroma overtook the entire drink. (As coffee lovers, no complains, but as sesame lovers, we would have loved a stronger sesame taste)
However, we would imagine the sesame cream would go well with nice earthy matcha. They do have a Black Sesame Matcha ($6.5) so we definitely recommend that.
Banana Bread French Toast ($15)
It was interesting to see banana bread coated with a thin layer of egg and drenched with maple syrup. The banana bread itself is good, but paired with bacon and vanilla ice-cream? Wow.
The portion for this is really huge, especially if you choose the banana bread option.
Strawberry Lemon Cake ($9, one slice)
We picked the Strawberry Lemon Cake, but the cake didn’t wow us. It was a strawberry sponge cake with some lemon cream. The lemon flavour was too overwhelming for us to taste the strawberry.
