Cafe Q Classified: Pink Floral Themed Cafe with Dutch Baby Pancakes in Takashimaya

Floral-themed cafes are often a hit in Singapore, with their interiors a perfect backdrop for IG photos. Cafe Q Classified is a new cafe in Ngee Ann City Taka with a pink, floral-themed interior serving items like pancakes and more.

Floral Themed Cafe in Orchard

Cafe decorated in flowers in Orchard Taka

When we learnt that the cafe was opened by the people from The Black Society, we were quite taken aback. For those who don’t know, Black Society is a restaurant that focuses on modern Cantonese cuisine. They also have a cafe called MASA by Black Society that focuses on pretty-looking dim sum.

According to the cafe, Q often depicts the top, superior, unique, exceptional, and sometimes theatrical. Hence, if you are Q-classified, you are set apart from the ordinary. We’re guessing this means the café will be a place where they serve you the best.

Café Q Classified is located right beside PAUL and stands out like a sore thumb, in a good way. From far, you’ll notice shades of pink and pastel, with lots of floral decorations. Hard to pass by without noticing it.

The place can hold around 40 to 50 pax (pre-Covid) but with current restrictions, probably only 20 to 30.

Cafe Q Classified Menu

The menu here at Café Q Classified is pretty extensive, ranging from all-day breakfast sets, salads, sandwiches, mains like pasta and various drinks.

Here are some of the items that we thought were more interesting:

Drinks-wise, they serve coffee and tea, along with drinks such as Virgin Mojito ($11), Fresh Sweet Corn Juice ($9) and Calpis with Palm Fruit ($9).

Dutch Baby Pancake with Red Ruby & Coconut Ice Cream

There are a total of 3 different flavours for the dutch baby pancakes here at Cafe Q classified, with 2 being sweet and 1 savoury option.

Made with eggs, flour, sugar and milk, the Dutch Baby Pancake ($15) itself had a nice pleasant eggy taste, with crispy edges. We felt that it went really well with the coconut ice cream and the red rubies added a nice crunch.

The dessert is made-to-order, so it’s piping hot when served which meant that the ice cream melts really fast.

Dalgona Coffee

Bringing us back to CB times is Dalgona Coffee ($8.80). Since we’ve made it before and know how much sugar goes into this, we were pleasantly surprised that their rendition of the Dalgona coffee isn’t dead sweet.

There was a nice bitter aftertaste of coffee as well! But with the Squid Game trend still going strong, we’re surprised they didn’t include the Dalgona honeycomb.

Green Mango Peach Tea

The Green Mango Peach Tea ($8) was essentially a teabag from Teaforte served in a pretty teacup that went well with the interior. There were hints of mango and peach, but the peppermint flavour really stood out.

Q Famous Truffle Lobsterwich

If you’re a fan of hot lobster rolls served with butter, the one at Café Q Classified would probably surprise you. The Q Famous Truffle Lobsterwich ($26) is served cold with a side of curly fries.

The lobster chunks are tossed with mayonnaise, onions, diced cucumber, capsicum and tomato. It had a refreshing taste, almost like a fruit salad. The truffle fragrance was strong; however, the truffle taste was barely present.

Pretty Pink Cafe in Takashimaya

While there were a few hits and misses, Cafe Q Classified would still make a nice pit stop for anyone shopping in Taka. A nice brunch before shopping or maybe a tea break after shopping.
