BlueBasket Banchan: Side Dishes Made By A Korean Mom To Go With Your Meals

Apart from your main dish, side dishes aka banchan are also an important part of any Korean meal. These side dishes can either be served before the actual meal or together with it. For those looking to stock up on Banchan in Singapore, you can check out BlueBasket Banchan that’s made by a Korean mom.

These side dishes are also perfect for days where you do not know what to eat. Simply pair some of these dishes with a bowl of piping hot rice and you’ve got yourself a quick meal!

BlueBasket has launched their own series of Banchan – consisting of 5 different side dishes.

These side dishes come in containers of 100g each and range from $8.50 to $13.90 per container.

The more interesting part is that they are made personally by a Korean mom, using only premium ingredients. Through these side dishes, you can taste 손맛 (son-mat) which literally translates to ‘hand taste’ in Korean – the unique flavour that comes from the labour and love of the person making the food.

For us, the most familiar tasting one was the Braised Soy Sauce Fishcake, which is a rather common side dish in Korean restaurants in Singapore.

It’s made by stir-frying Busan fishcakes, soy sauce seasoning, and vegetables together. It’s lightly salted, non-spicy and would be a great dish even for kids!

The more unique item would be the Stir-Fried Burdock with Soy Sauce. It’s crunchy and chewy and has a unique, sweet, and savoury burdock taste that goes well with any dish. This would also be a great option for non-spicy eaters.

These side dishes (banchan) are available for pre-order on BlueBasket.
