Bloom Coffee: Scandinavian Minimalist Cafe in Siglap with Coffee and Sangas

Is the East side truly the best side? Bloom Coffee, the latest addition to the East, takes over the now-defunct Stamping Ground Coffee with a Scandinavian minimalist interior, serving coffee and sangas.

Bloom Coffee reminded us of Monday Coffee Bar, with a concept of coffee and sandwiches. However, Bloom does offer more in terms of coffee and food, and the space is significantly larger in size. But both are visually appealing in their own way.

Pet-Friendly Alfresco Seating

Bloom Coffee Siglap

The East Coast Cafe is split into two sections as of now, an indoor seating area and an alfresco seating area.

The indoor area has around 25 seats, with some seats near the coffee counter for those who want to discuss more coffee with the friendly baristas.

The outdoor seating area is pet-friendly and has up to 5 tables worth of seating. Unlike the indoor interior, the alfresco seating furniture is decked in a beautiful shade of green which is in line with their branding. Warning: it does get quite hot outside.

Menu at Bloom Coffee

Bloom Coffee serves well, coffee, as their name suggests, along with sangas – which is the plural for an Australian slang for sandwiches.

They also have small bakes such as croissants and are displayed at the counter.

For the sandwiches, they currently have 5 different options, such as Tonkatsu ($18) and Grilled Mushroom & Eggplant ($17). They have one sweet option, which is the PB & Strawberry Basil ($15).

You can also get Shoestring Fries ($10) here, as well as a Granola Bowl ($12) made using their in-house granola.

Beverage-wise, there’s Filter Brew ($7-10), Long Black ($4.5), White ($4.5-$5.5) and non-coffee items such as Matcha Latte ($6.5/$7), Yuzu Cardamom Lemonade ($7.5) and a Matcha Lemonade ($7.5).

Soy and oat options are available.

White (5oz)

We went for the White 5oz, ($5) which was served with a beautiful latte art. For their espresso-based drinks, they used beans from Brazil sourced from Mercanta Coffee which boast notes of pineapple, red apples, and almonds.

Tamagoyaki Avocado Bacon

We ended up opting for the Tamagoyaki Avocado Bacon Sanga ($18) as it seemed the most breakfast-y out of the 5 options. Made using smashed avocado, grilled bacon and tamagoyaki, the sandwich was a combination of different flavours and textures.

While the bread was nicely toasted, we did hope for a smoother texture from the smashed avocado. We did enjoy the tangy flavours from the Japanese mayo & basil yoghurt sauce and hoped for more.

Aesthetic Cafe in the East

Bloom Coffee is definitely an Instagrammer’s dream with aesthetic corners everywhere. The place makes it a nice place to chill with a cuppa, but with their sangas coming at such prices, we did hope for something more refined.
