Macpherson is known as a quiet industrial area, but there’s a new foodie addition to the place! A Cube Bistro stands out as a hidden treasure, offering a unique blend of Italian dishes infused with Asian touches.
They offer in-house freshly roasted coffee, a special blend sourced from Brazil, Colombia, and Ethiopia, designed to evoke flavours of dark cherry, brown sugar, and rich dark chocolate. You can tailor your coffee to your liking and take home a bag of freshly roasted arabica beans!
Bright, Spacious Interior
A Cube Bistro boasts an interior that’s both modern and cosy. Stone-textured walls combined with black industrial-style fixtures evoke the comfort of a home. The warm, natural hues create an inviting atmosphere!
Spacious seating areas cater to both social gatherings and work meetings. There’s also a skylight that lets plenty of sunshine in, making it a prime Instagram-worthy spot.
A Cube Bistro Menu
A Cube Bistro offers a range of Italian culinary delights, including savoury pizzas, a scrumptious brunch selection, and an enticing bistro menu that includes their Signature Fiery Wings ($15) and Grilled Gochujang Prawns ($18).
They also have an extensive drink selection. From caffeinated options like Flag White ($5.5) and Cappuccino ($5.5) to refreshing fizzies like Sea Breeze Fizz ($8) and Elder Flower Fizz ($8).
3M Muscle Mussel Mouclade
Look forward to the unique 3M Muscle Mussel Mouclade ($20), a creative take on the classic Belgium Mouclade. It had a thick tomato-based broth, flavoured with flavoured with Kimchi and Lapcheong.
This was the most memorable dish for us! It was rich, spicy and umami-packed. Served on the side are Mantous moulded from pizza dough and they’re perfect for soaking in all the deliciousness of the stew!
Iberico Pork Collar
If you prefer meaty dishes, Iberico Pork Collar ($28) is a good choice. Grilled to perfection, the tender meat was drizzled with a special gochujang jus.
Served on the side are croquette balls filled with shredded pork belly and minced kimchi. The in-house pickled Apple fennel remoulade and apple mostarda provided a zesty and refreshing bite.
Breakfast Pizza
As its name suggests, the Breakfast Pizza ($22) boasts familiar morning favourites such as eggs, potatoes, bacon, and cheese. Setting it apart is its unique yoghurt base, to balance out the heaviness of the flavours.
The yoghurt base complemented the salty bacon and crunchy onions!
Duck Confit
The Duck Confit ($28) had a crispy exterior with tender meat. The addition of a honey glaze added a touch of sweetness to the dish. There wasn’t a pungent gamey taste for those who are particular about it!
You can add a drizzle of tamarind duck sauce to suit your taste, which elevated the dish with its rich, umami essence.
Chicken Confit
If duck isn’t to your liking, the Chicken Confit ($26) is a good alternative! The dish is a take on chicken rice with olive oil confit-ed chicken breast,
Accompanying the chicken is a cabbage generously stuffed with an in-house braised chicken leg combined with cai po. Doused in a reduction of chicken stock sauce, every bite was quite a flavour!
Crispy Skin Barramundi
The Crispy Skin Barramundi ($26) featured a pan-seared fillet of locally caught Barramundi, served with gravy made from clams, bacon, potato, tender wilted lettuce, and a creamy shellfish beurre blanc.
The crisp skin complementing the tender fish beneath, offers a contrast of textures. The lotus root chips added an additional layer of crunch and aroma to the dish.
