18th Silver Grass Festival in Seoul from 18th to 24th October

Overview:

Taking place from the 18th to 24th of October at Haneul Park, the annual Seoul Silver Grass Festival is one of the many festivals and exciting events taking place in the picturesque autumn season. Haneul Park is usually closed at night to protect wildlife. However, throughout the event period, the park will remain open till 10pm so park-goers will get to enjoy both day and night views of the Sky Park.

Venue:

As mentioned above, the festival takes place at Haneul Park, also known as the Sky Park. It is one of the five parks within World Cup Park, and possibly the most popular one as well.

Did you know, Haneul Park didn’t use to be a popular spot in Seoul. In fact, it was a landfill in the past. But thanks to the city’s Landfill Recovery Project back in the 90s, the park is now one of the prettiest spots in Seoul.

Price & What’s Good to Know:

Haneul Park is absolutely free for everyone.

However, the journey to the park can involve some climbing of steps (291 steps) before one can reach its peak to immerse himself in the breath-taking views. If you’re not too keen on sweating and physical activity, there is a tram that goes all the way to the peak, so you don’t have to climb. A return journey costs 3,000won, while a one-way trip up costs 2,000won. We highly recommend taking the stairs up, who knows you might get to view more installations and unique attractions along the way up!

Pink Muhly Grass

One of the most Instagram-worthy plants to look out for in Autumn is the Pink Muhly Grass. Besides Olympic Park, Haneul Park is a well-known place for the pink muhly grass as well. The one here is slightly different though – with rounded bunches of the grass, giving off a certain out-of-this-world vibe, which sets us wondering: Can nature get more amazing than this?

View of Han River

You shouldn’t be too surprised of the stunning view after climbing 291 steps to the peak. What awaits you at the top is the wonderful panorama of Seoul. You truly deserve this! This is also a great place to watch the sunset, with different viewing platforms located around the park once you reach the top.

The Silver Grass

The fields of silver grass are definitely not too be missed. Most Singaporeans would recognize this plant as lalangs, which could be found mainly in Tuas and Punggol.

The ‘lalangs’ here are prettier and much larger in size. Even on a crowded day, it is not difficult to find a satisfactory spot here to pose for your photos. You might even get lost trying to find your way out of the Lalang fields!

During the colourful season of autumn, many places in Korea are adorned in a sea of red, orange and yellow! Which are your favourite destinations to visit?
