Singapore Korean Film Festival 2021: Up To 30 Classic Korean Films Free To Watch Online

Last year, the Singapore Korean Film Festival was held completely online. This year, there will be a hybrid edition of the KFF featuring 8 titles over 15 screenings at Golden Village Suntec, and up to 30 classic Korean films online via meWATCH.

Opening with ‘The Book of Fish’

The event will open with a simultaneous screening in partnership with Busan International Film Festival in show of solidarity during this pandemic.

Films Showing in Theatres

8 different films will be screened across 15 timeslots over 2 weekends from the 7th to 17th of Oct 2021.

They are completely free and will be open to all vaccinated individuals.

You can expect shows like action-comedy ‘Exit’, featuring Hospital Playlist’s Jo Jong-suk and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA to ‘Dongju’, a film based on a poet story who lost everything only to rise again with family love.

For those who are familiar with veteran actress Youn Yuh-jung, you can catch her in ‘Minari’ where she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Oscars.

Some other iconic films are ‘Samjin Company English Class’ and ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ which are both Top 10 Korean Movies of 2020. Particularly, ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ features actor Lee Jung-Jae, who recently starred in Squid Game.

30 Classic Korean Films Online

With aims to provide safe and memorable chances for Singaporeans to learn more about classic Korean films, 30 titles in total will be released for free via meWATCH, from 7th Oct 2021, with 6 new titles introduced each week during the Singapore Korean Film Festival.

Some films you can expect are romance films like ‘Contact’ or ‘Lover’s Concerto’. For thrill-seekers, you can stay home and enjoy films like ‘A Tale of Two Sisters’ and ‘Blood & Ties’.
