Yakult, or 야쿠르트 (pronounced ya-ku-reu-teu in Korean) is a popular probiotic drink all around the world. While there any many brands selling the probiotic drink, most are familiar with the OG brand, Yakult.
In Korea, you’ll sometimes see ladies in motorized carts selling the probiotic drinks, formerly known as Yakult Ahjummas (야쿠르트 아줌마).
The term has now been revised to ‘Fresh Manager’ which combines the word ‘fresh’ to represent freshness and ‘manager’ to reflect a person that manages the health of customers by delivering fresh products.
Shine Muscat Yakult
This summer, Korea has released a Shine Muscat flavoured Yakult drink. The packaging is mainly green in colour with pictures of the shine muscat plastered on the drink.
Unlike the usual Yakult drinks, the opening is at the bottom of the drink. This is probably so you can fit a teaspoon in the drink. Why? Because you’re supposed to freeze it and eat it like sherbet!
While Shine Muscat is famous for being ridiculously expensive, the Shine Muscat Yakult is pretty affordable, at only 500won per 110ml bottle.
Lots of Korean netizens have been sharing that the drink tastes better after freezing it, and it tastes like a nice mixture of a green grape beverage with Yakult.
Perfect Summer Drink
The combination of Shine Muscat with Yakult sounds like a great beverage for the summer. Can you imagine making Yakult Soju with this? Too bad it’s not available in Singapore.
