Even if you’re not an avid K-pop fan, you would have come across Running Man at least once in your life. The popular South Korean variety show features some well-known personalities, Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Jong Kook and more. As of Oct 2020, Running Man has been airing for over 10 years with more than 500 episodes.

Each episode has its unique theme, with the cast and special guests participating in a series of missions to win the race! With Halloween approaching, here are 8 thrilling and “scary” Running Man episodes to binge-watch:

Episode 98: Mystery Zombie Race

This episode’s theme revolves around students going on a field trip to a particular island. The cast members were having fun and enjoying their field trip

After the campfire, the final treasure hunting game commences, and many mysterious events start to happen around them. A shocking twist later then reveals that a zombie was hidden amongst one of them and had started infecting the rest.

This episode has no special guests.

Episode 155: Destiny Pairs

This episode features Korea’s sweetheart Bae Suzy along with the cast as they revisit their school days. The story revolves around finding your destined match and becoming the fated couple through completing a series of games.

Sounds like your typical high school romance, right? That’s what the cast thought as well until they found the truth about the “fated couple”, where death and ghosts are involved.

Episode 261: Please Find Me!

A continuation from the 5th Anniversary Special featuring guests such as DJ Koo, GOD’s Park Jun-Hyung, COOL’s Lee Jae-hun, DJ DOC, Kim Gun-mo, and Ha-Neul who are famous singers in the 1990s.

The main highlight of the episodes begins after the guests have left where a horrifying loyalty test with the staff begins.

The cast is brought to a creepy looking building where they have to complete the mission which requires 2 running man members and their respective cameramen to enter the building in search of their name tags as well as the cameraman’s name tag.

Horrifying surprises prepared by the creative team were lying in wait to scare the living daylights out of them.

Episode 277: The Zombie Virus Race

Another zombie-themed episode!

The story begins with a zombie virus that has spread throughout South Korea from a secret laboratory. The government has decided to deploy the Running Man team as their last hope to retrieve the cure! Infiltrating a secret laboratory filled with scary-looking zombies, you can expect to see an episode filled with laughter and screams.

Episode 354: Labyrinth of Fear

Based on previous results from previous episodes, designated members will be experiencing the Labyrinth of Fear in Japan. Said to be one of the largest and longest haunted houses in the world, the Labyrinth of Fear is so scary that you can actually find underwear being sold in the park for people who peed their pants.

Among the five chosen members one must go alone. To avoid being the chosen one, the five members complete various missions that will eliminate the chances of them being chosen.

Episode 408: Family Package Project: Grand Final

This episode has both thrill and horror elements that are definitely not for the weak-hearted. The main highlight of this episode is in the final mission where they must play a game that will exempt them from sleeping and spending the night in the Oxford Castle.

The Oxford Castle is also referred to as the ‘ghost castle’. With over 1000 years of history, the castle is known to have souls of the tortured prisoners wandering around. The most infamous one being Queen Matilda who almost formally became the first queen of England, who was locked in there for three months in the basement before her death.

The cast also challenged their fears and took part in extreme activities such as wing-walking, heli-skiing and crossing the World’s Longest Crossing Bridge!

The special guests in this episode include Hong Jin-Young, Kang Han-Na, Lee Da-Hee and Lee Sang-Yeob.

Episode 463: The War of The Deities: Hades’ Revenge

Inspired by the Korean movie “Metamorphosis”, the episode revolves around finding the 3 deities, Hades, Zeus and Poseidon.

The final goal is to eliminate Hades and send him back to the Underworld. The real scary part of this episode is in the final battle that takes place in the “other world” where it is filled with spirits Hades brought from the underworld. The “other world” is a haunted house filled with frightening “creatures” lurking around every corner.

The special guests in this episode feature big-name actors and actresses Bae Seong-woo, Cho Yi-Hyun, Kim Hye-jun and Sung Dong-il.

Episode 505: Eliminating Trespassers: Secret Of The Old Village

The Running Man team is invited to a village to search for hidden gems where they can exchange for cash. What a great deal! Or so they thought… As they begin their search for gems, mysterious things start happening in the village. As more and more clues surface, they discover the dark secret behind this village.
