Korean variety shows are a great way to keep yourself entertained should you ever find yourself stuck at home with nowhere to go. However, a recent trend in Korea has seen more Korean celebrities opening Youtube channels and programmes.

The hosts are able to talk more freely due to lesser broadcasting restrictions, which results in a lot of funny scenes. Some of these channels only started this year and have already gained lots of subscribers and viewers. Here are 9 Korean Youtube Channels you should get into:

Dalla Studio – Nego King, Invention King, Lotto King & Sold Out King

With the first episode airing around August 2020, Dalla Studio has gained nearly 1 million subscribers thanks to their two programmes: Nego King and Invention King.

Nego King features Kwanghee, who goes to different companies to negotiate for discounts and deals.

On the other hand, Invention King features Yunho, who will solve problems by coming up with inventions.

Dalla Studio has come a long way, now with 2 completed seasons of Nego King and new shows like Lotto King featuring Lee Yi-Kyung and a new Sold Out King featuring Kim Jong-min.

Mobidic – Jessi’s Showterview

Jessi who has been everywhere recently is receiving a lot of love for her straightforward style of interviewing guests.

Every week, you can look forward to Jessi interviewing a new guest through different segments of her show such as Global Interview, where guests have to answer in English instead of Korean.

Jessi’s Showterview airs on Thursday, 6:30PM KST.

Misun:Impossible

Featuring South Korean comedian and TV host Park Mi-Sun, Misun:Impossible is a show where Park Mi-Sun completes a different mission for each episode. Fans of the show, otherwise known as agents, usually suggest new mission ideas in the comments section.

Some might find the host familiar as she used to be part of the popular TV variety show, Happy Together.

The 53-year-old host is taking on the show as a challenge to tell everyone that even people in their 50s can do Youtube as well.

A new episode is available every Friday, 6PM KST.

MMTG (문명특급)

MMTG is an online YouTube variety show created by SBS featuring Jae Jae. Besides being an MC on the show, she holds a job as a production director (PD). This is why she often introduces herself as half celebrity and half commoner.

She has been praised for her performance on MMTG, with her ability to remember specific details about her guests.

They also did a special bringing back songs from the past featuring K-pop idols like After School, 2PM and more.

A new episode is available every Thursday, 5PM KST.

Studying Genius Hong Jin Kyung (공부왕찐천재 홍진경)

A recent hot favourite amongst Koreans, the Youtube channel revolves around Hong Jin Kyung, a female comedian, studying topics like Math, English and Economics.

The channel started because Hong Jin Kyung found herself not knowing the answers to her child’s homework. Joined by Gree, Nam Chang-hee and more along the show, you can expect lots of chaos and funny moments throughout.

Sadly, only the first few episodes are subbed. Maybe it’s a sign for you to go and learn more Korean!

Studio Hook

One of the shows on Studio Hook revolves around the concept of Plogging. If you’re not sure what Plogging is, it’s a combination of the Swedish word for picking up and jogging. Host Gangnam will interview guests while going around Korea picking up trash and jogging at the same time.

Another show is based on the concept of Guerilla Gardening.

KimDumb

Fans of 2D1N rejoice! KimDumb brings together hardship addicts, Kim Jun-Ho and Kim Jong-Min for more hilarious interactions on their Youtube channel.

In each episode, they will go against each other in different battles.

Workman

A popular channel amongst Koreans is Workman. The channel shot the previous announcer, Jang Sung-kyu to fame through his witty comments.

Every week, Workman puts Jang Sung-kyu through different job experiences in Korea, from being a delivery man to an Everland part-timer.
