2020 may not be the best year with so much going on, but one thing’s for sure – it’s been a great year for Korean dramas. We have seen amazing hits in the first half of the year with Crash Landing on You, Itaewon Class, World of the Married, Hospital Playlist and more.

Records have also been broken this year with World of the Married’s ratings overtaking Sky Castle, Goblin and Mr. Sunshine’s.

Here are some upcoming Korean dramas in 2020 that we cannot wait to watch. One of them with a World of the Married x Sky Castle vibe that might possibly be the next drama to set new records.

“Jessica, only child, Illinois, Chicago” – remember this classic line?

Parasite’s Park So Dam will join Park Bo Gum and Byeon Woo Seok in the new series, Record of Youth.

The drama follows the lives of Sa Hye Jun (played by Park Bo Gum), an aspiring model/actor, An Jeong Ha (played by Park So Dam), an aspiring makeup artist and Won Hae Hyo (played by Byeon Woo Seok), Hye Jun’s best friend.

With their youthful passion, we’ll see these 3 characters trying to achieve their dreams in the fashion industry.

Based on an original novel, ‘Silence Alert’, Hush is an office drama based in a newspaper company. Starring YoonA from Girls’ Generation, who will play the role of an intern reporter who meets Han Jun Hyeok (played by Hwang Jung Min), a veteran reporter.

This will be Hwang Jung Min’s first drama in eight years, as well as YoonA’s first drama in three years.

Details for the JTBC drama have not been released but the drama is projected to air in the second half of 2020. The current title is also a working title, which means it could change. Depending on the Covid-19 situation, there may be changes to the schedule of the drama.

Psycho, But It’s Okay

First look at the drama title and you would think it’s about someone who has major issues and is labelled a psycho. But the drama, also known as ‘It’s Okay to Not be Okay’ actually follows Moon Kang Tae (played by Kim Soo Hyun) who works in a psychiatric ward and Ko Moon Young (played by Seo Yu Ji) who is a popular children’s book writer but is rude and arrogant.

We’re kind of excited to see how their romance will blossom despite their personalities.

With this being Kim Soo Hyun’s first lead role since his military discharge, lots of fans are looking forward to this drama.

Psycho, But It’s Okay will be airing on June 20th.

Backstreet Rookie

Based on a webtoon series, this romantic comedy Korean drama stars Ji Chang Wook, who plays the role of Choi Dae Hyun, a convenience store owner and Kim Yoo Jung, who plays the role of Jung Saet Byeol, a part-time worker at the convenience store.

Convenience stores are everywhere in Korea. They are also home to lots of famous snacks and desserts. Hopefully, we’ll get to see some convenience food hacks in this drama as well.

Backstreet Rookie will air on June 12th.
