Kakao Friends x Baskin Robbins Korea: NEW Ice Hotteok Flavoured Ice Cream

If there’s one thing we love about Baskin Robbins in Korea, it’s definitely the collabs and ice-cream flavours. You would have probably heard about the collaboration with BTS earlier this August which resulted in the Bora Bora flavoured ice-cream.

Some previous ones included famous Korean snacks, Banana Kick and Jollypong being made into ice cream flavours.

For the month of November, Baskin Robbins Korea has collaborated with Kakao Friends to launch a series of Ice Hotteok ice cream items.

Ice Hotteok Ice Cream From Baskin Robbins Korea

Hotteok is a popular street food from Korea that’s essentially a pancake with a sweet sugar syrup filling. There are other versions of hotteok, such as the one in Busan where the hotteok is filled with nuts and seeds.

Traditionally, hotteok is served piping hot, sometimes the syrup filling can burn your tongue if you’re not careful. So to see an iced version of hotteok, it is rather interesting.

The Ice Hotteok flavour has strips of syrup seen in Hotteok fillings along with a mix of nuts and chewy rice cakes to add texture to the ice cream.

From what we can gather online, the ice cream is said to have hints of caramel and hazelnut.

Along with the new flavoured ice cream is also an Iced Hotteok Mochi that looks exactly like a hotteok pancake. The centre of the mochi is filled with flowy honey syrup that resembles the usual hotteok.

Baskin Robbins Korea

While it’s slightly saddening to know that we can’t try this collaboration right now due to the pandemic, hopefully when we travel to Korea in the future, there’ll be more new and exciting flavours to try.

But even if not, there’s always the Baskin Robbins outlet in Samcheong-dong to look forward to!
