Just when we thought we were done with weird food combos this year. From the Korean mart that brought you Green Mint Chocolate covered Fried Chicken, they have recently released cordial syrups in different flavours.
Here are some of the more interesting flavoured ones:
Green Onion
Korea seems to love green onion. Earlier this year, Kellogg’s Korea also released a green onion flavoured item: the green onion cereal which created quite a buzz on the internet.
But a green onion flavoured drink? We’re not so sure about this. According to the website, you can make a Green Onion Latte using the syrup, with 1 part green onion syrup and 4 parts milk.
Hot Sauce
While hot sauce is great with fried chicken, will it go well with soda? Well, according to the website, you can experience the spiciness of hot sauce with this drink.
Simply mix 60g of hot sauce syrup with 200ml of soda to create a Hot Sauce Ade.
Will you be willing to try this?
Wasabi
Similar to the green onion syrup, you can make a cup of Wasabi latte using the wasabi syrup.
According to the item listing, after you have a sip of wasabi latte, you’ll somehow find yourself craving for a piece of sushi. The mixture of milk and wasabi will create a smooth wasabi latter.
Not going to lie, the visuals for the drink look on point, but taste-wise, we’re not so sure.
Coriander
Ah. A controversial ingredient. Coriander is one of those things that you either hate or love.
Well, the coriander syrup sold on the online mart is more versatile compared to the other flavours. According to the listing, you can add soda to the syrup to make a Coriander Ade. If you add alcohol to it, you can enjoy a coriander-based cocktail.
Will you be willing to try this if you see it a cafe? Who knows? Maybe with the slices of lime, this might be a refreshing drink to have on a hot day.
Pine Needles
The pine needle-based syrup is one of the less surprising items on the list. If you didn’t know, there are pine needle teas out in the market, and they smell really good! It is also said to be beneficial for your health.
Online Korean Mart Selling Weird Cordial Syrups
Besides the more interesting flavours listed above, they also have more “normal” drink syrups such as a soda flavoured one, where you can make a Paint Latte.
The passionfruit syrup is also marketed as one where you can make Frog Egg drinks, because of the fruit’s resemblance to frog eggs.
While some drinks sound delicious and intrigued us, some seem like they were created just for buzz. Would you try these drinks if they were available to you?
