Singaporean restaurants have been keeping up with the many food trends and we’re impressed by the selection! Swensen’s has officially hopped on the train with the newest release of their UFO Burgers, a novel burger format popularised in South Korea.
Swensen’s UFO Burger
This interesting burger shape is formed by pressing the burger down to seal the buns, creating crispy edges and a stacked, juicy center of ingredients.
It circulated Korean social media circa 2021, made popular for its novelty and made for minimal mess.
Swensen’s is offering three flavours of UFO Burgers: Golden Chicken Katsu ($15.90), Beam Me Up ($16.90) and Truffle Shroom ($18.90). Every order comes with a side of fries and coleslaw.
The shape made it slightly easier and fun to eat, especially the crispy edges! While the patties felt slightly dry, the added sauces and ingredients provided a juicy balance.
Our pick would be the Beam Me Up, featuring a spicy arrabiata sauce that added a pleasant kick to the beef patty.
The Golden Chicken Katsu had a peppery sauce but the chicken patty did feel slightly thin, but it’s a suitable alternative if you don’t take beef.
We felt these could do with better seasonings or flavours, but appreciated the overall heartiness of the burgers.
Bonus: Kunafa Desserts
Swensen’s is also offering a limited-time menu of Kunafa-inspired desserts,topped with the crispy pastry and pistachio sauce. These are available until 16 September 2025.
There’s a SCC0 Kunafa Sundae ($7.80) made with a zero-sugar version of their popular Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream for a lighter indulgence.
The more indulgent version is the Gold Rush Kunafa Sundae ($9.80) with a kataifi-pistachio drizzle and Coffee Fix and S’mores Ice Cream.
Our pick would be the Pisang Goreng Kunafa ($13.80) featuring crunchy pisang goreng, cheese and vanilla ice cream. It sounds weird but the sweet pisang, savoury cheese and creamy ice cream made for a satisfying combination!
Swensen’s New Burgers
These UFO Burgers are a novel take, and although we feel there’s more that could be improved on flavour-wise, it’s a fun take for children and families. It’s now available at all Swensen’s outlets as a permanent menu item across their 24 outlets islandwide.
