Using The Shuttle App To Order Food Delivery in Korea

Food delivery is a huge part of Korea, with many complimenting how convenient and easy it is to get food at any time of the day. While there are many phone apps that allow one to get food delivered, the options for tourists and foreigners can be quite limited. One easy way for tourists to experience food delivery in Korea is through the Shuttle App.

Shuttle: Tourist-Friendly Food Delivery App in Korea

Food from Shuttle Delivery

You might have heard of popular Korean food delivery apps like Baedal Minjok and Yogiyo, however, these apps mainly use the Korean language which might be inconvenient to most people. Also, sometimes they require a Korean phone number or Korean credit card when ordering or paying for food, which most tourists do not have access to.

Enter Shuttle (셔틀), a food delivery app that’s available in both English and Korean languages. Phone verification is optional, as users can still order without it. However, if you are a user without phone verification, you won’t have access to credit or promotional discounts.

A Korean phone number is also not needed for phone verification.

The app services areas in Seoul, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Daegu, and Busan offering multiple cuisine options such as Pizza, Fried Chicken, Desserts, and Korean.

From what we’ve experienced, the delivery fee usually costs 4,500won, with some restaurants offering a delivery discount once hitting a certain amount ordered.

As for payment, Shuttle accepts Credit Cards, PayPal, and Kakaopay.

Our Experience Using Shuttle Food Delivery in Korea

We tried ordering food from one of the restaurants listed in the Shuttle Food Delivery app during our recent to Korea.

Since our accommodation was based in Yeonnam-dong, which is near Hongdae, we had quite a few options to choose from. When we were in Busan near the Gwangalli area, it had lesser options surprisingly.

We ordered from a place called Go Pig (Sinchon), where they served individual Korean BBQ bento sets, alongside grilled meats for sharing.

It was very easy to place an order on Shuttle, simply choose your desired menu item and add it to your cart.

Inside your cart, you can also request Cutlery which is a great option for those staying in hotels.

When checking out, there are multiple options you can indicate to the delivery driver, such as requesting for a face-to-face delivery or leaving it at the door and ring the doorbell.

If you’re worried about inputting the wrong address, fear not, as the app has a live chat option. In our case, the staff actually contacted us to clarify our address before proceeding with the order via the live chat, which was a nice customer service touch.

Food-wise, it was delivered in well-packaged containers/”trays”, with the side dishes, sauces, and vegetables packed individually. The vegetables were also fresh and clean, so this meant no additional washing was required.

Delivery App For Tourists in Korea
