Meeting: Korean Inspired Cafe Hidden Within Industrial Area, 5 Min Walk From Marymount MRT

Hidden within an industrial estate right beside Marymount MRT, one might feel lost and out of place while looking for MeeTinG (@mtg_brand), one of Singapore’s newest cafes with a Korea cafe scene-inspired branding.

Ambience at MeeTinG

Despite us constantly doubting ourselves and trying to find our way in what looks like the most impossible place for a cafe, we ended up on the 5th floor of an industrial building, one door away from what could be described as a completely different world from the outside.

“Are we at the right place?”

After checking in and temperature taking, we immediately walked towards the cafe area and was amazed by the natural light flooding into the space.

The space looked amazing.

We can already imagine lots of people coming here for their Instagram and OOTD shots.

The People Behind MeeTinG

MeeTinG was started by 3 brothers, Mikey, Timothy and Gabriel. They’re using the space over at Shop Weekend Cheoks, which coincidentally belongs to their cousin.

While trying to find a name that could fit all their initials together, they came across the word, Meeting.

The brothers were inspired by their travels to Korea, visiting coffee shops and wanted to start something on their own. Mikey shared that Timothy is the main guy behind MeeTing’s branding and designing. As Timothy is currently in the army, Mikey and Gabriel hold the fort over at MeeTinG.

We loved all the details they had in mind when piecing the space together. From the stamped double cups to coasters and stickers that you can bring home, it really reminded us of the cafe culture in Korea.

Different Episodes

Currently, at Episode 01 of their journey, the theme for MeeTinG now is space. In a few months, the theme may change to something else, along with the colour scheme of the place.

Right now, it’s white and blue. Blue straws, blue letterings and white cups. For the next episode, Mikey hinted at a different colour combination which might include the colour black, but it’s just an idea for now.

Something that changes every month is their playlist.

For October, their playlist was curated to recreate mid-autumn vibes.

Coffee Over At MeeTinG

The menu is rather simple, with 3 options for now – Americano, Latte or Filter, available in hot or iced. They are currently using Arabica beans from Kenya with a medium roast for their coffee but may introduce newer bean options in the future.

They also offered Cascara tea from PPP Coffee when we were there. The drink is made using the dried skin of the coffee fruit and has notes of hibiscus, tamarind and honey sweetness.

Cafe With Chill Vibes In Singapore

Overall, we can imagine this place becoming a hidden oasis for Singaporeans wanting to chill and enjoy a cup of coffee.

The playlist contributes to a nice chill, hip atmosphere. On sunny days, the way the sunlight floods into the space kind of just leaves you in a trance, almost like a way to escape life.

For now, MeeTinG is operating on a tipping basis. They accept payments in the form of Paypal, Paynow and cash.

Unlike your usual cafes, Meeting doesn’t have a fixed operating schedule, so do head over to their Instagram to see which days they are open. They usually post a schedule at the beginning of each month.

To visit, it is recommended to make a reservation with them via DM. MeeTinG is still working on a booking system to better regulate the crowd.
