Lays Thailand Launches Korean-Inspired Flavoured Potato Chips

The Korean wave is still going strong worldwide with Lays Thailand jumping on the bandwagon and launching 2 new Korean-inspired flavoured potato chips.

These 2 new Korean flavoured potato chips join recently launched flavours like the Cheeseburger one that aims to bring a taste of the USA to consumers. There are also new flavours like Spicy Salted Prawn and King Crab XO Sauce.

Lays Thailand New Korean-inspired Potato Chips

We managed to get our hands on these 2 new flavours via an Instagram store.

Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Potato Chips

The Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread was once a trending street food item that started popping up in bakeries everywhere. They’re known to be especially creamy with a fragrant pop of garlic.

Lays Thailand’s rendition of the popular bake reminded us a bit of the sour cream and onion flavour, but more towards the sour cream side.

There was a strong cheesy flavour upon opening but we did hope that the garlic flavour could have been stronger and more prominent.

Spicy Korean Ramen Potato Chips

Personally, we found this really spicy. Usually, for the hot and spicy flavours, it takes a few chips for the spiciness to hit, but for this, the spiciness hits during the first chip and builds on from there.

It doesn’t really remind us of any particular ramen brand, and it doesn’t have that ramen flavouring packet kind of vibes. Just, spicy.

Korean Snacks

It’s interesting to see brands trying to come up with interesting Korean-inspired flavoured snacks and wonder what’s going to be the next “it” snack. In Korea, there are even Gopchang (grilled intestines) flavoured potato chips!

What are some iconic Korean foods you think will suit potato chips?
