We Tried The Brand New Tom’s Farm Jeju Matcha Almonds From Korea

When coming back from Korea, everyone is bound to bring back a bag of Tom’s Farm Almonds. The brand started with honey butter flavoured almonds and have now expanded to over more than 15 different flavours of almonds. Tom’s Farm Almonds has grown so popular that there are even knockoffs in the market.

The last time we visited Seoul, there was even an entire store in Myeongdong dedicated to the almonds, where you can even purchase merchandise such as mugs and pyjamas. The next time you’re in Korea, make sure to grab some almonds back as souvenirs for your friends and family.

Recent Flavours

Last year, Tom’s Farm released a couple of new flavours such as the Black Sugar Milk Tea Almond, Tteokbokki Almond, and Injeolmi Almond. Before the release of the Jeju Matcha Almond, the closest green tea/matcha product from Tom’s Farm was a Green Tea Latte flavoured Almond Puff Ball.

Why Jeju Matcha?

Just when we were wondering why there isn’t a matcha flavoured almond, Tom’s Farm has released the newest addition to the family – the Jeju Matcha Almond. It contains a mixture of both green tea powder and organic Jeju green tea powder.

Jeju island is known for many things, but amongst the list are fresh air, clean water, and volcanic soil, making it an ideal place for green tea plantations. Hence, the green tea products in Jeju are quite well-known, even amongst Koreans.

Packaging

The almond characters are seen harvesting green tea leaves in Jeju, with the famous Hallasan and stone statue (Dol Hareubang) printed on the packaging. Like all the other almonds, the packaging comes with a zip lock so you can reseal the bag after opening.

Once opened, you’ll see almonds in a pretty shade of matcha green. The layer of green tea powder surrounding the almond is quite visible as well. While we usually don’t judge a snack by its appearance, we had a good feeling about this shade of green.

Taste

And per our expectations, the Jeju Matcha Almond is delicious in every possible way.

The matcha taste is definitely more obvious compared to the Green Tea Latte flavoured Almond Puff Ball. The layer around the almond is quite thick, possessing a nice creamy matcha taste but not too sweet at the same time. Like most of the other almond flavours, we kept reaching for seconds.

The Jeju Matcha Almond is probably one of our new favourites. There is very minimal bitterness of the matcha, such that one may not even realise its presence. We appreciated the adequately balanced sweetness, as previous experiences for other flavours had us yelling ‘diabetes’ 3 almonds in.

For everyone who wants to try this Korean snack, you don’t have to fly to Korea to try this new product. The Jeju Matcha Almond is available for purchase online at Shopee.
