Higuma Doughnuts × Coffee Wrights Omotesando: Stunning Cafe in Tokyo

The gorgeous cafe space in Omotesando is a result of a collab between two brands: Higuma Doughnuts and Coffee Wrights. Located somewhere in between Omotesando and Harajuku station, this cafe is worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Higuma Doughnuts x Coffee Wrights Omotesando Entrance

Once you enter, you’ll first be greeted by the counter, which features many of Coffee Wrights’ beans selection along with the various menus. The descriptions are written in Japanese, however, the main menu items are listed in English, so it’s relatively easy to order.

Featuring an interior that consists mainly of wooden elements, the space feels very welcoming and warm. The area that stands out the most has to be the “sunken” area, which allows for two-floored seating.

During warmer days, the windows are opened which allows for a more open concept, but even during winter, the glass windows let in enough light, so the space doesn’t feel constricted or small at all.

Do note that you’re supposed to order first before picking a seat, so don’t go full Singaporean and chope seats with a tissue packet.

Higuma Doughnuts x Coffee Wrights Omotesando Menu

Since the space is a collaboration between the two brands, you’ll find a menu by Higuma Doughnuts and one by Coffee Wrights.

Coffee Wrights handles the beverages with espresso-based drinks like Americano (470 Yen), Café Latte (600 Yen), Espresso Tonic (680 Yen) and Dirty Chai (680 Yen). Non-coffee drinks include Cardamom Lemonade (680 Yen), Matcha Latte (700 Yen) and Chai Latte (600 Yen). Decaf option is also available for espresso-based drinks.

Higuma Doughnuts offers a range of doughnuts made using raw ingredients from Hokkaido. The resulting handmade doughnuts are fluffy and chewy, with a light texture.

There are 5 kinds of doughnuts under their Regular menu: Plain (280 Yen), Sugar (300 Yen), Cinnamon Sugar (300 Yen), Kinako (300 Yen), and Chocolate Dippin’ (350 Yen). Apart from that, there’s also a Limoncello Seasonal Donut (350 Yen) and a dine-in-only menu featuring the Honey Mascarpone Doughnut (350 Yen) and Higuma Ice Cream with Doughnut (600 Yen).

If you purchase a doughnut with a drink, you are also entitled to a 50 Yen discount.

When we visited, the cafe also offered the Chai Doughnut (390 Yen) which is made with Valrhona white chocolate, Ceylon Tea, and 4 different kinds of spices such as Cardamom and Ginger. The doughnut had a nice balance of sweetness with just the right amount of spice. It did get a bit messy when eating this though.

We also tried the Limoncello Doughnut (350 Yen) which was glazed with a thin layer consisting of a strong lemon flavour with a hint of lemon liquor. Very refreshing and light!

One of our favourites was the Kinako Doughnut (300 Yen), which looked like any other doughnut at first glance. The Kinako topping here is made with black beans and soybeans. While the topping might not look like a lot, the kinako flavour was actually pretty intense.

The last doughnut we tried was the Cinnamon Sugar (300 Yen) which highlighted the amazing texture of the doughnut with its simple topping.

As for drinks, we opted for the Iced Latte (600 Yen) which was a decent cup of coffee.

Aesthetic Cafe in Tokyo

Higuma Doughnuts x Coffee Wrights Omotesando is one of those cafes you can’t really find in Singapore, in terms of interior and vibe. Even if you’re not an avid cafehopper, we do recommend visiting this cafe in Tokyo!

The cafe does attract quite a crowd, especially on weekends, so make sure to visit early or be prepared to queue.
