House of Vinyl (하우스오브바이닐): Coffee Break In Style, Cafe in Mangwon-dong Is Interior Goals

Located in Mangwon-dong is the newly opened House of Vinyl, an LP cafe that passersby might mistake for a house due to its exterior. However, if you look closely, obvious signs are hinting at the cafe.

LP Cafes are quite the rage in Korea, with several places allowing you to listen to vinyl records while enjoying a cup of coffee. Some places, like House of Vinyl, have a record player playing a curated selection of vinyl which contributes to a different vibe.

Vinyl Cafe in Mangwon-dong, Seoul

One of the main points of House of Vinyl Mangwon is the “living room” area, which features a couple of seats directed at the vinyl player and speakers. The arrangement made us feel like we were in someone’s home, which might be a good interior design inspiration for some people.

We visited on a weekday around 11 am, and it was almost empty. However, we heard that there is a waiting line during weekends, so do keep that in mind! If the cafe is full, the allowed seating time is only an hour and 30 minutes.

This time is also the best due to the amount of natural sunlight that floods the place.

To the left of the main area is a room with couches and a couple more seats.

There’s also a corner facing the window, which felt like the “study room” of the house.

Menu-wise, they serve a combination of coffee and non-coffee beverages. You’ll find the classic Americano (6,000won), Latte (6,500won), and Vanilla Latte (7,000won). Non-coffee drinkers can opt for the Green Tea Powd Latte (7,000won), Hallabong Ade (7,500won), or Milk Tea (7,000won).

For desserts, they have Soft Persimmon/Strawberry Pavlova (13,000won), Double Cream Brulee (6,000won), and a selection of pound cakes (7,000won).

We tried the Green Tea Pound Cake (7,000won) and were very appreciative of the dollop of cream served with it. It balanced out the textures of the pound cake and added a nice creaminess to the overall dessert.

Chill Cafe in Seoul

For those visiting Mangwon-dong (which we highly recommend!), House of Vinyl is a great spot to spend a chill afternoon just listening to music and sipping on coffee. The area is slightly away from the market which makes it slightly more serene.
