Forest Outings: Enormous Cafe in Ilsan, South Korea That’s Almost Like An Indoor Arboretum

While warehouse and industrial cafes are common in Korea, this cafe that we’re going to be talking about today is on an entirely different scale. Forest Outings is a huge cafe in Ilsan, that’s almost the size of an indoor arboretum.

Huge Cafe in South Korea

Located in the city of Goyang, one of Seoul’s neighboring cities lies Forest Outings. From far, you would not have imagined that a building of this size is meant just for one cafe.

If you told us that this was a small department store or a church, we would have believed you.

Upon entering, you would realize that there are 2 floors and a garden with a mini “lake” right in the middle. The red brick building also has a glass roof that lets in lots of sunlight.

There’s also a bridge you can cross in the mini garden. Lots of people use this as a photo spot.

The entire place is filled with seats, and the ordering counter only takes up a small portion of the place. If you sat somewhere on the opposite end, it’ll take you some time to walk back to the counter to collect your order.

Menu at Forest Outings

The cafe serves coffee, bread, pastries as well as mains.

For mains, you can find a range of pasta and pizzas such as Ragu Pasta (18,500 won), Tomato Burrata Pasta (18,000 won), and Italian Sausage Pizza (18,000 won).

Coffee

As for their coffee, it comes in two different blends of beans: Light and Dark. The dark features a heavier body with nutty macadamia notes, while the Light has a refreshing acidity.

Bakes and Pastries

The bakes at Forest Outings range from bread to croissants to cakes and are all neatly laid out on trays that never seem to end.

We spotted Kaya Croissants, Croissants filled with strawberries and cream, cakes topped with macarons, and scones topped with slabs of butter.

Their Tiramisu Croissant was filled with mascarpone cheese, cocoa powder and came with a small vial of espresso. Be careful when consuming this as the copious amounts of cocoa powder could accidentally choke you.

Botanic Garden Themed Cafe in Korea

While prices might be on the higher side for Forest Outings, the space is indeed unforgettable. From having to pick where to sit, to strolling through the cafe’s mini-garden, it’s almost like visiting an actual attraction that happened to have a cafe in it.

If you’re looking for a place to just chill and experience a little healing, Forest Outings might just be a great spot to read a book and catch up with friends.
